10 August 2021 – Substance & Evidence – Part 5

Hebrews 11:20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau in regard to their future.

Faith is a transferable asset and not just a choice, culture or canon. Isaac passed on the blessings to his children by faith that he received from his father Abraham. The Lord had promised Abraham that his generation will multiply as numerous as the stars of the sky. Isaac blessed his twin boys Jacob and Esau to birth the nation hidden in their loins, by faith. The blessings that we receive will always outlive us when it is passed on in faith. 2 Timothy 1:5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.

Jacob also blessed all his children and grandchildren before he died. By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff (vs 21). Jacob was a shepherd. The staff of the shepherd was passed on to the next generation symbolically as a blessing of fruitfulness. The shepherd’s crook represents rulership. Bible scholars believe that Jacob must have passed on his staff to the children of Joseph. He worshipped the Lord leaning on the staff and transferred the blessings of his granddad Abraham to his offspring. Jacob’s faith was the substance and fruitfulness of Israel is the evidence.

Faith is a transferable asset:

1.  Cheque: Faith is like a blank cheque for God’s bank account. God’s account has no limit and has never dried up. Our trust in the Word of God is the substance and the amount we write of the cheque is the evidence of our faith. Our tongue is the pen that writes the amount on the cheque leaf. Proverbs 18:22 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Negative words strike through the cheque leaf and renders it useless. Positive words writes the amount that we can withdraw from the treasury of Heaven.

2.  Promissory Note: Promissory Note is a signed document containing a written promise to pay a stated sum to a specified person at a specified date or on demand. It is faith that will bring a specific promise or a prophecy to fulfilment on the due date. The holder of the promissory note must take it to the bank to encash it. If not, it will be like a piece of paper lying in our vault. Similarly faith empowers us to walk rightfully and righteously into the throne room of God with the promissory note of His promise and prophecy and request payment.

3.  Will: The Bible is a “will” written in our name and registered in the legal constitution of Heaven. There are over 8,000 promises in the Bible. When we accept Jesus, we are reborn into the royal family but unless we access and exercise our kingly rights, we will remain as paupers.

The ‘substance’ is the legal document and the ‘evidence’ is the rightful access to divine royalty and resources. Faith is a transferable asset that will outlive us and can be passed on to future generations.

Proverbs 13:22 A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.

Prayer: Sovereign  Father, please give me the faith that can not only access the treasury of Heaven but can also be transferred into my posterity. Amen.
