17 September 2021 – Light & Legacy – Part 1

Genesis 1:3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

God created light before He created the sun, the moon and the stars. God created light on day one and created the great lights in the vault of the sky on day four. Genesis 1:16  God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.  Without the sunlight, there can be no life on the earth. The heat, light and solar energy are essential for plants, animals and humans to exist on the earth. Without heat from the sun, Earth would freeze. It is sunlight that causes weather patterns. The creator of the great light not only created the magnificent hydrogen and helium hot ball  but has also positioned the sun at the right distance from the earth. The Sun is at an average distance of about 93,000,000 miles (150 million kilometers) away from Earth. If the sun was any closer, the earth would burn and if it is further way, the earth would freeze.

When Jesus said, I am the light of the world (John 8:12) all He meant was, He is the author of all ‘life’. Human brain can understand the physics behind the solar system but understanding Christ as the source of life causes psychosis. The creation reveals the nature, splendor and magnificence of our Creator. Psalms 104:2 The LORD wraps Himself in light as with a garment. The light that gives life to the earth is the garment of the Almighty.

Jesus is the light of the World:

  1. Elucidation: Sunlight and solar energy are essential for the existence of life on the earth. Jesus did not stop with saying, I am the light of the world. He continued on to state “Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12). As solar energy gives life to the earth, the Son of God elucidates the soul. When we follow “the light Jesus” there will be no dark, grey or shady areas of our life that we will be ashamed of. Light of God’s presence elucidates.
  1. Invasion: Sun does not take permission from the darkness before it rises in the morning. When the dawns breaks, darkness flees. For you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord (Ephesians 5:8). When the light of God’s presence invades our soul, all the darkness, depression and despair takes flight. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them (Ephesians 5:11).  Light of God’s glory invades and overcomes into darkness.
  1. Transmission: Solar energy is transmitted through solar panels to generate power. When Jesus invades into our soul, He energizes the sloppy discouraged heart,  He illuminates the darkened mind and transmits supernatural energy called “hope” which generates divine power called “faith”. Light of God’s power shifts us into the supernatural plane.

Jesus is the light of the world. Where there is light, darkness, desolation and despondency will flee. As sunlight is inevitable for life to survive, Jesus, the light of the world, is vital for us to thrive.

Romans 13:12 So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Prayer:  Light of the world, You came down from Heaven into the world that was darkened by sin to give us light and life. Shine in my heart so I can bloom, blossom and burst forth with the assurance of eternal life. Amen.
