James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the Heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Light travels in a straight line until it hits an object that blocks it from breaching the surface. Shadows are evidence of light travelling in a straight line. Opaque(solid) objects do not allow light to pass through them. However, translucent objects such as frosted or stained glass refract the light that pass through them.
Our Father in Heaven is the giver of all good and perfect gifts. He is also called the Father of Heavenly Lights. The interactions and inter-exchanges between the heavenlies and the earthly also travel in a straight line. Unlike the sun that changes directions throughout the day, the light from Heaven that carries gifts and blessings does not turn direction. The sundial, which was the only clock that was used in the ancient world, had a circle in the sand with a stick in the middle. As the sun moves, the sundial would shift the shadow. At 12 noon, the shadow will disappear as the sun is directly above the stick. Unlike the sun, the light from Heaven does not shift. For promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south (Psalm 75:6). God’s light and love are static as the sun at 12 noon. Every good and perfect gift is from above. We are the ones who harden our hearts and prevent the light from permeating, nourishing and nurturing us.
Allow the light of God’s presence to penetrate into your innermost being:
- Thick: Light cannot pass through a thick/opaque object. Similarly, the light of God’s truth cannot pass through a callous heart. John 11:9 If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. Those who stumble into the same sin and repeat the same mistakes over and over again, have a thick skin, stiff neck and a hard heart. Divine light cannot pass through a thick(callous) heart.
- Translucent: Light that passes through semi-transparent objects are refracted. The translucent object refracts (changes the direction of) the light many times and scatters it as it passes through. Too many refractions disfigure the reflection. Ephesians 4:18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them. The hearts that are not lucid, lack clarity. It is shaded with doubts, disbeliefs and wrong ideologies; pervaded with confusion and argumentative arrogance. Divine light is deflected by a translucent heart.
- Transparent: Light passes through transparent objects so does the truth of God into a heart that is transparent, simple and clean. John 12:46 I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness. When the divine light from the scriptures floods our hearts, our lives shine luminously bright. This glorious light carries health, healing, good and perfect gifts. This marvelous light from the Father of Lights, who came down as the ‘Light of the world’, illuminates our darkened hearts. The divine light downloads enlightenment and blessings into a transparent heart.
Transparent hearts attract divine light, Heavenly blessings and have a glorious ending leaving a lasting legacy.
1 Thessalonians 5:5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness.
Prayer: Lord I surrender any hardness, shadiness or rigidity that would deflect divine Light. Shine and be glorified throughout my life. Amen.
