26 September 2021 – Promises & Problems – Part 3

2 Corinthians 1:20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

All the promises are “Yes” in Christ Jesus. In other words, Jesus showed us the way or method to unpack the promises of God. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13). We can use the name of an influential politician to get preferential treatment or a favour only if we know the politician personally. The politician should be able to identify his relationship with us. The criteria for the fulfillment of the favour will rest on our rapport with the person of influence. Similarly, our relationship with Christ Jesus is the ‘recommendation letter’ that will receive recognition in Heaven, along with our request.

Furthermore, for the fulfillment of the promise, our cooperation is required. The translation of “Amen” in Greek is “so be it”. Criteria two is our agreement to the promise. In every promise there is a prophetical word that must be received, agreed, incubated, ingested and digested. There was a promise that was given to Jacob when he ran away from his home. Genesis 28:15 Look, I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go. I will bring you back to this land, for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised. This was not just a promise but a prophecy into his future. The promise/prophecy took 21 years to be brought to completion. Some promises might take years, yet, the Lord will watch over His word and fulfill it. Jeremiah 1:12 “for I am watching over My word to accomplish it”.

The promises of God are prophetical utterances into our future:

  1. Synchronize: Many promises delay as we are not in sync with the thoughts and ways of God. The promises could look indubitably ginormous and impossible, yet, sow seeds of trust and sync with the Word of God. God is in the process of turning ashes into beauty. We might not be able to see the colour or the splendor in the grey ashes, yet, synchronizing our heart and mind will bring the promises into fruition and the prophecy into fulfillment. Sync with the promise.
  1. Siphon: Promises are packed with succulent sap and strength. When the going gets tough and the word of God looks impossible to be fulfilled, siphon the sap from the Sovereign King. With men it is impossible; but not with God (Mark 10:27). Look beyond the impossibilities into His sovereignty. We must marinate in the promise every day until the promise infiltrates into our bloodstream and our brain. Siphon strength from the promise.
  1. Sit: Promises are eggs with life. As a hen sits on her eggs to hatch them; sit on your promises. Warm the eggs with confessions and declarations, and watch them hatch. Negative confession or probable/doubtful statements will break the eggs. Many crush the promises with their own tongue. Declare the promises a few times every day and hatch the promises. Sit on the promises and hatch them.

Promises of God are eggs that have to be hatched.

Psalms 119:164 I praise You seven times a day for Your righteous judgments.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, You words stand firm even in the most impossible situations. I agree with your promises. I will siphon strength from your promises and I will rest(sit) on the promises to bring it to completion. Amen.
