Mark 5:12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.”
The demons would be the best judge of their hideaway hovel called ‘hell’. But they begged Jesus to send them into the pigs and not back to their hood. Apparently the herd of smelly swine were better than the stinking shack! The horror of going back home shuddered the demons to beg for an alternate hostel. Hell is real. The unseen realm is more real than the physical realm. Everything that is manifested in the natural realm originates from the spiritual realm. Statistics state that about 42% don’t believe in the existence of hell.
Dr Maurice Rawlings, an eminent cardiologist, skeptic and non-believer had a radical transformation while he resuscitated several patients, multiple times on their deathbed. The firsthand testimonies from patients who were revived after a massive cardiac arrest turned an atheist to a Christian author. In his book ‘Beyond Death’s Door’ he records, “I was resuscitating a terrified patient who told me he was actually in hell. He begged me to get him out of hell and not to let him die. When I fully realized how genuinely and extremely frightened he was, I too became frightened. Now I feel assured that there is life after death and not all of it good.” Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” (Psalm 14:1a). Unfortunately nearly half the population of the world say that there is no God, heaven or hell!
Let us take a peep into hell and examine why the demons cowered to go back to hell.
Peek into hell:
1. Ranks: Hell has an organized hierarchy. It would resemble the ruthless military camp of Hitler in an unimaginably large scale. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world (Ephesians 6:12). The lowest rank are the tempting demons that provoke, tempt and entice, also called the “powers of the dark world”. The ranks of the demonic regime have reporting routines. The demons in the above reference were territorial demons that didn’t want to go back to their ruthless home(hell) and horrible heads. Hell has a horrific routine and a horrendous reporting hierarchy!
2. Ruse: Hell is the source of all ruse that manifests in this world. Wickedness, merciless killing, violence and brutality originates in hell. Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong (Psalm 36:4). Those who entertain hatred, allow the ruse of hell to be planted in their souls. Demons need the human body to execute the plots and those who are deceived become instruments of darkness. Hell is the origin of all ruckus.
- Real: Jesus preached more about hell than Heaven. Jesus answered the most FAQs of the atheist, ‘why would a good God send humanity to hell?” in ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41). Hell was never intended to be the destination of the human soul. Hell is the hood for satan and his followers.
Hell is fuming with horror, hunger and hatred.

Prayer: Compassionate Father, You are just, faithful and benevolent. Open my eyes to see the truth of the unseen realm. Amen.
