20 May 2022 – The Enemy – Part 7

Galatians 5:16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

Carnality entertains the enemy. In other words, ‘the works of the flesh’ opens the door to the demonic. There is only a thin line between ‘works of the flesh’/carnality and ‘demonic oppression’. The acts/works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. (Galatians 5:19-21). Entertaining lustful thoughts is the weakness of the flesh but falling in adultery is a demonic stronghold (Proverbs 5:1-14). Envy is the work of the flesh but yielding to resentment and bitterness is demonic (Genesis 4:5). Rebellion is carnal but using rage to control others is demonic (1 Samuel 15:23). Stubbornness is the work of the flesh but mulish manipulation is demonic. Ego is the weakness of the flesh but misusing relationships to gratify selfish ambition is demonic. Anger is carnal but manipulation, control and violence is demonic.

The flesh has to be crucified and demons must be expelled. If we try to crucify the demons, we will not succeed in overcoming the addiction or destroying the stronghold. We cannot blame the devil for the weakness of the flesh. We must overcome temptations with the Word of God. Exorcism is not required to overcome dirty thoughts, envy, pride, selfishness or drunkenness. Flee sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18). Run, repeat the word of God and refuse wrong entertainment  to crucify the flesh. When the behaviour becomes compulsive and out of control, we must fast, pray and expel the demons.

Three tips that will keep our domain secured from demonic intrusion:

1.     Worship: The demonic world hates pure, sincere and unpolluted worship. The devil (Lucifer) was heaven’s worship leader before he was expelled from heaven.  You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God (Ezekiel 28:14). Hence he cannot tolerate us replacing his position that was made redundant. The ex-employees, (devil and the demonic evil spirits), are tortured when we worship. So, let worship never leave our lips. Worship helps us to overcome the flesh and drive out the enemy.

2.     Friendship: The Lord God reveals secrets to those who fear Him. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him (Psalm 25:14). Reverential fear and love for the Saviour promotes us into “God’s trusted friends” list. Prophet Elisha knew the plots, plans and ploy of the virulent enemy of Israel (the King of Aram) by just fellowshipping with the Lord in his shack. Friendship with God keeps the enemy away.

  1. Sonship: We are not slaves but sons and daughters. In other words, we are not on daily wages, we share the supernatural rights, privileges and inheritance as sons/daughters of Jesus.  So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God (Galatians 4:7). Sonship crushes the head of the enemy.

Worship, friendship and sonship raises a firewall of protection against the enemy.

Luke 10:19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, empower me to overcome the carnal desires and trample over the demonic intruders. Amen.
