25 October 2022 – Resume – Part 3

Job 1:1-2 In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.

Another astounding resume that comes up for discussion and exhortation in heaven is the CV of Job.  Verses 2 and 3 expound his earthly blessing and his children but the first verse elucidates the credentials and the character of Job. He had seven sons and three daughters, and he was the greatest and the wealthiest man of the East. However, his wealth and family status changed in a few seconds when he heard about the death of all his ten children and the business loss that came upon him without warning. He went into bankruptcy and despondency on the same day.

In 2019 Bill Gates was the wealthiest man in the world with a net worth of $96.5 billion however, in 2022, Elon Musk is the wealthiest with a net worth of $228 billion. This is most likely to change in 2023 and is very likely to change over the next few years. Likewise the wealthiest prince of the East became an overnight popper. His financial and social status changed but his spiritual status remained stable and only kept increasing even in the midst of calamity. He continued to hold his integrity to God. In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing (Job 1:22). He did not get angry with God nor did He question God about the catastrophe. His heart remained humble as he realized God was the owner of everything that he had and that he was only a steward. Hence he expounded, The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” (Job 1:20b).

What does our CV look like when faced with the unforeseen?

1.     Bankrupt: Job was bankrupt yet he remained blameless. The financial loss was not because he had made avaricious risky investments or because of a foolish business decision.  He was hit by natural calamities, was plundered and was ransacked. There was no insurance to cover him hence, the man broke down financially, mentally and physically but remained steady spiritually.

2.     Betrayed: Job was inflicted with sores all over his body. There was no treatment for the spiritual attack on his physical body. He was shunned by relatives, contemporaries and even his best friends. He was betrayed yet remained blameless.

3.     Blameless: Job’s CV stands out and we still discuss and learn from his experience because of his faithfulness. From the rubbles, ashes and the bleeding sores he declared, I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth (Job 19:25). What we meditate and speak about God in the midst of inexplicable problems will determine our spiritual promotion and validation in heaven. Integrity not only brings honour and wealth on the earth but is transferable wealth that can be stored in heaven. Job did not finish impoverished and impaired. The Lord God gave him double for his trouble.

Integrity is a transferable net worth that validates and boosts the value of our CV.

Job 42:12 The Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning.

Prayer: Father God, give me the tenacity to remain integrous when I go through bizarre challenges and rest in the truth that you are always faithful. Amen
