Matthew 5:28 But I am saying to you, everyone who looks at a woman so as to lust for her, immediately commits adultery with her in his heart.
“Logic will take you from A to B. Imagination will take you anywhere” – Albert Einstein.
The eyes feed the mind with substance to imagine. Imagination is a powerful gift that can take us anywhere we want to go. Jesus warned us to feed our eyes of imagination with purity and integrity. Our vision feeds the mission through the power of imagination. We will only reproduce what we feed on. The eyes of imagination that see success will build confidence and courage in the soul. Our thoughts about others aid to form our character and candor. Our thoughts about the future will paint the canvas of our destiny. Every new beginning (both good and bad) is conceived in the womb of imagination. Purity or promiscuity, love or lust, benevolence or bitterness is all fostered in the womb of imagination. Imagination is the catalyst to character formation. So Jesus gave a very candid caveat that the use or misuse of the gift of imagination will determine our frolic future or frivolous failure.
The power of the gift of imagination will guide us into the future where our physical body could never take us. Joseph prophetically spoke to the next generation that after 400 years, the Lord will take them back to the land that He had promised to His great-grandfather Abraham. He instructed them to carry his bones from the palatial royal pyramids of Egypt when they migrate. “God will surely come to you. Then you must carry my bones up from this place.” (Genesis 50:25). The power of imagination carried Joseph into the fourth decade after his death.
The power of the gift of imagination:
1. Itinerary: The gift of imagination lays down the itinerary of our life and prophetically sets the stones for our lineage. Joseph saw four hundred years into his future through the eyes of imagination. We can do the same and see our grandchildren, great grandchildren and the children we will not see with our physical eyes, thriving in the Kingdom of God. Imagination draws down our itinerary from the earth into eternity.
2. Luminary: The gift of imagination when used effectively will make us a powerful influence. Joseph was able to embed the prophecy in the heart of his offspring. He saw the exodus and he implanted the repositioning into their heart. Imagination makes us a legendary luminary.
3. Visionary: The gift of imagination is the conduit to divine visions. Envision the goals and godly ambitions. Bring them before your eyes through the power of imagination. Write and record the vision and paint the picture to see its fulfillment. Joseph died but his vision outlived him for over 400 years and carried his bones to the Promised Land. Imagination morphs us into a visionary.
The power of imagination is the conduit for our vision.
Titus 1:15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to understand the power behind the gift of imagination and use it as a catalyst to carry me to great heights. Amen
