02 January 2023 – Resilience – Part 2

Psalm 8:2 Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.

“We need resilience and hope and a spirit that can carry us through doubt and fear.” – Brené Brown

Our tongue is the tool that can build or break resilience and hope. We can talk ourselves into disbelief or coach ourselves out of doubt. The Lord God has anointed our tongue to build resilience in our thoughts. The language of praise and worship builds resilience but complaints drain away our strength. Our tongue will establish a stronghold against our enemies. However with the same tongue we can breakdown the protection of God and damage the wall of defense.  Words of acclamation, confidence and trust are the bricks, cement and water that will build the fortress of faith and the stronghold of confidence to overcome any challenge.

Both resilience and rigidity are developed by repetitions in the mind. This is why memorizing Bible verses builds resilience and negative words or pessimistic confession breaks down faith. Our resilience and tenacity to trust God above our circumstance will silence the avenger. For the one who accuses our brothers, who accuses them day and night in the presence of our God, has been thrown out (Revelation 12:10). The demonic forces are constantly accusing, belittling and mocking us in our head. The avenger the devil is constantly condemning us in the courtroom of heaven.  To defeat his voice of condemnation it is crucial to use our tongue as the tool to build our inner-man with toughness, robustness and sturdiness.

David spoke himself to victory every time he was downtrodden. Surely none who wait for You will be put to shame (Psalm 25:3). Even when his friends and combat companions connived against him, David strengthened himself in the Lord. David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; … But David found strength in the Lord his God (1 Samuel 30:6). David recovered from the treachery with the anointing in his tongue. We don’t always need a prophet to strengthen us, our tongue is the tool.

Tongue is our tool to build tenacity:

1.     Tongue-tie: A broken heart and a wrecked mind can be renovated by teaching our tongue to speak hope. Bridle your tongue from impromptu unconstructive professions. Place a tongue-tie in your mouth against negative confessions.

2.     Train: The tongue must be trained to talk faith and fullness. We cannot train our tongue to speak words of faith with our own strength. No human being can tame the tongue (James 3:8a), only the Holy Spirit can train us. So, surrender your tongue to be trained by the Holy Spirit.

3.     Testimony: Positive confession unleashes divine help and negative confession permits demonic intruders. Our testimony will build or break our tenacity. If we confess that ‘nothing good will happen to me’, we shut the door of blessings with our own hands. Testify faith and build resilience.

The tongue is your most powerful tool to make 2023 a year of triumph.

Revelation 12:11 They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.

Prayer:  Dear Holy Spirit, take complete control of my tongue so I can testify your power and authority over any crucible circumstance. Touch my thought-patterns and train my tongue to testify victory. Amen
