11 March 2023 – The Face of God – Part 7

Revelation 1:14 The hair on His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like blazing fire.

John the disciple of Jesus had a vision of Christ in the Island of Patmos where John was incarcerated for his faith. When I saw Him, I fell at his feet as though dead (vs 17). The blazing light from His eyes paralyzed John.  Daniel had a vision while he was in Babylon, the pagan territory filled with idolatry and immorality. His body was like topaz, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches (Daniel 10:6a). Those around him could not see the vision but they heard the roaring voice of God and hid themselves. Daniel says, I bowed with my face toward the ground and was speechless (vs 15b). The visions that both John and Daniel had unveiled mysterious insights, historical events and secrets of the future and deep spiritual experiences. The mysteries in Revelation can be deciphered only with the book of Daniel.

When Jesus looked, compassion encompassed and engulfed the crowd.  But when he saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them (Matthew 9:36). Jesus looked at Peter after he betrayed Him thrice and Peter broke down with conviction. The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly (Luke 22:61a-62). The eyes of Jesus fell on the downtrodden, diseased, ostracized and outcast. The moment the eyes of the deprived caught the eyes of Jesus, they were liberated.

Power flows from the eyes of Jesus:

1.      Look: Lack will disappear when we look into the face of God. Gaze upon him, join your life with his, and joy will come. Your faces will glisten with glory. You’ll never wear that shame-face again (Psalm 35:5 TPT). Looking into the face of God does not mean to sit before an image or an idol. When we take a moment, close your eyes and look into His goodness, our faces will glisten with the glory of God. Then His thoughts will become our thoughts and His compassion will flow in and through us.

2.      Lock: Jesus did not say a word when His eyes locked with the eyes of Peter but it brought such conviction to Peter that he repented and cried bitterly. When our eyes are locked with His eyes, we will live a God-conscious life.

3.      Live: Live under the eyes of God. It is a land the LORD your God cares for; the eyes of the LORD your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end (Deuteronomy 11:12). Prioritizing Him, praising and praying will turn the face of God towards us. The glow from His eyes will permeate purity, piety and prosperity into our lives.

The Face of God makes us radiant. When His eyes are on us, no evil, envious or demonic eyes can touch us.

Psalm 36:9 “In your light, we see light.”

Prayer: Father of Lights, may your glorious face turn towards me and may your eyes be upon me continually from the beginning of the year to its end.  Amen
