28 March 2023 – Unanswered Questions – Part 3

Judges 6:13 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?

God is not obligated to answer all our questions. The angel of the Lord completely ignored the question of Gideon. God will not repeat Himself when we ignore His warnings over and over again. The Lord sent a prophet to remind Israel that they were faltering and flawing. I said to you, ‘I am the Lord your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.’ But you have not listened to me.” (Judges 6:10). There was neither remorse nor regret for the debauchery and destruction that they were causing on themselves.

When our prayers are in line with God’s will, it is important to reanalyze our integrity and not question God’s faithfulness. When we face challenges that we are unable to understand it is pertinent to go back to God’s Word and what He has spoken to us in the past. God will not repeat Himself. The Lord did not answer the question of Gideon. He just responded, The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” (Judges 6:14). The Lord said, go and do what you have to do. Before Gideon plunged into battle, he destroyed the altar of Baal and cut down the Asherah poles. He built an altar for the Lord and offered a burnt offering with the same Asherah poles that he cut down (Judges 6:25-27). The answer to Gideon’s question was indirectly given to him. He had to tear down the altars of the idols for the Lord to fight their battles.

God will not repeat Himself if His warnings are ignored.

Unanswered Questions:

1.     Repeat: Many times the answers to our questions will be indirect. Sometimes He will open our eyes and ears to His voice and His will. Other times, just revisiting what the Lord has spoken to us over the years would be the answer to our unanswered questions

2.     Ruminate: Ruminating over God’s word over and over again will drive out the darkness and make the scales from our eyes fall down. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children (Hosea 4:6). Ruminate on His Word and receive the answers.

3.     Rebuild: Gideon had to break down the pagan altars and rebuild the altar Lord’s altar. For unanswered questions to be answered, we must tear down the altars built for idols. Our career, job, money, children, even ministry can become idols. If God goes silent on us, we must search our hearts to check if there are any ungodly altars and demolish them.

God goes silent sometimes just to get our attention.

Judges 6:27 So Gideon took ten of his servants and did as the Lord told him.

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Amen
