11 April 2023 – Behind the Cross – Part 3

Revelation 5:5 The lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has triumphed, enabling him to open the scroll with its seven seals.

Behind the cross the Lamb became the Lion!  Jesus died as a sacrificial lamb but He rose up as the Lion of Judah. The roar of a male dominant lion is loud and aggressive. It can be heard up to 8 kilometers away and the deep throaty roar demonstrates his power. The roar of Jesus in hell stripped the devil of all their powers. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross (Colossians 2:13b-15). The roar of the Lion of Judah disarmed the powers and authorities of the demonic forces and armed us with influence, power and authority to overcome the forces of darkness.

All the legal indebtedness of our sins was cancelled because Jesus took our place in the electric chair and the gallows that were prepared for us. The lion of Judah barraged into hell and cancelled our indebtedness and generational curses. Most times the devil blames us with accusations that we have shamefully committed but those demeaning words will have no effect as Jesus has stamped ‘cancelled’ on our allegations and has displayed it on the blood stained cross. He has endowed us with power and might to become the hands, feet and mouth of Jesus. Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (Matthew 28:18). He has anointed us to heal the blind, bound and broken.

Behind the empty cross:

1.     Blind: Jesus has empowered us to open the eyes of the blind both spiritually and physically. The roar of the Lion behind the cross on which the Lamb was nailed made the centurion repent. When the centurion (who was spiritually blinded) and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God! (Matthew 27:54).  The resurrected power of the Lion of Judah has empowered us to open the eyes of the blind.

2.     Bound: Jesus set free those who were bound in anger, animosity, addiction, violence, hatred, rage and promiscuity. The thief on the cross bound by wickedness was set free by the roar of the Lion behind the Lamb. The Lion of Judah has endowed us with an anointing to set the bound free.

3.     Broken: Jesus healed the broken hearted and has anointed our tongue to heal the brokenness of others.

We are the children of the Lion of Judah. The cubs inherit the nature of the Lion, so do we.

Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek. He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound

Prayer: Jesus, the Lion of Judah, coach me to live like the cub of the victorious Lion of Judah.  Amen
