28 June 2023 – God’s Insurance Policy – Part 4

Jeremiah 31:16-17a This is what the Lord says: “Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded,” declares the Lord. “They will return from the land of the enemy. So there is hope for your descendants,”

God’s Life insurance policy does not stop with us but extends to our descendents. A weeping mother and a praying father who battle for their children on the knees relentlessly will never lose them to waywardness, vileness, addictions or wickedness. Don’t stress about the distractions of your children in their teens and youthhood. “The seed of the righteous shall be delivered” (Proverbs 11:21).  The Holy Spirit will not stop nudging our children to make the right decisions, be in godly connections and warn them about misdirection when we ceaselessly pray for them. All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children (Isaiah 54:13). The Lord God will become their tutor, teacher and coach. ‘Righteous living’ is the qualification of the ‘comprehensive insurance cover’ for our posterity.

The insurance company agrees to pay the insured, a sum of money upon the death of the insured but God’s divine insurance policy promises protection, providence and provision not only for us but for our generations to come. I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread (Psalm 37:25). Choosing right from wrong buys a fully covered ‘divine comprehensive insurance policy’ for our generations to come. Susanna Wesley had 19 children and she prayed 1 hour every week for each of her children. She is the mother of John Wesley the founder of the Methodist revival and Charles Wesley the hymn writer of “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing,” “Christ the Lord Is Ris’n Today,” and various other famous hymns.

Insurance Cover for our descendants:

1.     Holistic: There is a holistic insurance cover for our children under Christ. Susanna was a single mother who homeschooled her children and was the breadwinner of her family. The persistent prayers,  guidance and tutoring of Susanna Wesley birthed John Wesley, the theologian, evangelist and leader of the revival Methodist movement in the Church of England and his brother Charles Wesley, the English clergyman, poet, and hymn writer. All her children served the Lord. Our piety and persistence leaves a godly legacy.

2.     Holy: Those who love God’s Word and walk according to His Word have a protracted promise of God’s goodness over their descendents. Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children (Hosea 4:6b). On the contrary, remembering, ruminating and reiterating God’s Word will replenish our generations with God’s abundance.

3.     Heritage: Walking diligently with the Lord brings consistent showers of blessings over our generations whom we will not even see with our physical eyes. I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants (Isaiah 44:3).

God’s insurance policy covers the generations of those who tenaciously follow Him.

Psalm 112:2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

Prayer: Father God, help me to live a plausible, flawless and credible life to leave perennial blessings to my spiritual and biological pedigree. Amen.
