Raising a godly generation is a violent spiritual battle. When the enemy cannot touch us, he will target the next generation. The skills, talents and niche expertise of the young and able bodied Israelites were snatched by the evil authority. King Nebuchadnezzar left behind the impoverished, diseased and feeble in Jerusalem but carried 10,000 mighty men of valor into captivity.
The strategy of the devil is to steal our seed. However, parents who vehemently fight on their knees not only save their children and grandchildren but also spiritually influence the society and the nation. The High Priest Eli was a godly man, but did not fight for his wayward sons. As a result his generation lost the noble mantle of priestly anointing (1 Samuel 2:33 & 2 Kings 24:14). Fasting and prayer is the strategy to combat the lewdness, licentiousness and lethargy of the next generation and turn them back to God.
Beware of the attacks of the enemy on the next generation, the millennials and Generation Z/Gen Z. (A Millennial is anyone born between 1980 and 1996 and Gen Z is anyone born between 1996 and the early-mid 2000s). The spiritual attack on the millennials and Gen Z is concealed in their phones and devices that they carry. As much educational information is available at our fingertips, so also are the boorish and profane materials. Fight to protect the young generation from promiscuity and pornography.
Raising a godly generation is a spiritual battle:
1. Brainy: Five year olds are more tech-savvy than fifty year olds. The young generation is over informed but under disciplined. The king of Babylon took the young, virulent, vibrant, and brilliant men, and educated them in the ‘University of Babylon’. He stuffed them with worldly culture, luxuries and knowledge. Our young adults and teenagers are also overloaded with sophisticated knowledge and the belief system of the world. Before they are fed with fatty fast food they must be fed pure milk, the Word of God. Once the foundation is laid, constant prayer and fasting will build them up as sound spiritual young men and women.
2. Brain-wash: The enemy’s strategy is to replace good with bad, and truth with evil. This is why the juveniles are led to believe that the Bible is an ancient book and does not apply to the current lifestyle or challenges. Prayer washes the contaminations of the worldly ideas and fasting peels of the veneer of deception from the next generation.
3. Brain-dead: The enemy’s scheme is to make the next generation brain-dead and insensitive to godliness and holiness. They are led to believe that it is not cool to be a Christian. Fasting and prayer will reinvigorate and reignite the fire of God in the millennials and Gen Zs.
Fight for your children, your families and the next generation.
Isaiah 49:25b For I will fight those who fight you, and I will save your children.
Prayer: Father God, give me the determination to fight for my next generation and may my prayers transform my generation into powerful influencers and prophets. Amen.
