06 August 2023 – Praise Powerbank – Part 1

Psalm 34:1 I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Praise is a portable powerbank that we carry with us everywhere, all the time. A powerbank is a portable charger designed to recharge your electronic devices when you’re on the move.  When your electronic device runs low on battery all you have to do is to plug into the powerbank. Likewise, praise recharges us spiritually. There is no time, place or occasion to praise the Lord. We can praise Him in the morning, noontime, and at dawn. We must praise Him even in our bed while we are falling asleep. Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds (Psalm 149:5).

‘Praise is not an action but an attitude. Gratitude in the heart overflows as praise in our lips.’

We must praise God at all times. We don’t praise God just when we receive a blessing but we must praise God for the delays, detours and even the closed doors. Praise God in the dungeon, utter darkness and in the lion’s den. Praise God even in the valley of the shadow of death. The powerbank of praise will lift us up even from the most depressing and demeaning circumstances.

David, the great and mighty warrior writes Psalm 34 before Achish the king of the Gath after he fled from Saul who was trying to kill him. David was afraid that Achish might harm him so, he pretended to be insane in their presence; and while he was in their hands he acted like a madman, making marks on the doors of the gate and letting saliva run down his beard (1 Samuel 21:13). After running for his life and pretending to be mad David did not complain or question God but said, His praise shall continually be in my mouth. Praise lifted him from the pit of depression.

Praise is a powerbank:

1.     Pitiful: Praise will turn the pity-party into a prayer-party. Thanksgiving will help us to stop pouting and start praising. Pull out the powerbank when self-pity, sadness or sorrow enmeshes you.

2.     Painful: Praise will turn pain into power. The commander-in-chief who brought the giant Goliath down with his shepherd’s sling pretended to be a madman before the enemy. Yet, he chose not to sulk but sing praises to the Lord. Praise lifted his spirit.

3.     Powerful: Praise energizes our mind and revives our spirit. Praise warms up the soul and revitalizes us with hope. Praise turns our focus from the foreboding or frenzy to the faithfulness of God. Praise turns the jeopardy into joy.

Praise is the powerbank that we carry with us 24/7. When overwhelmed by pity or pain, pull out the powerbank of praise and recharge your soul and revitalize your spirit.

Psalm 50:23 “Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.”

Prayer: Father God, you know what’s best for me so help me to be grateful with an attitude of praise in all circumstances.  Amen.
