10 August 2023 – Praise Powerbank – Part 5

Psalm 149:5 Let His faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds.

Praise God in your bed. The National Institute of Health in a publication on “Brain Basics – Understanding Sleep” has stated that “your brain and body stay remarkably active while you sleep. Recent findings suggest that sleep plays a housekeeping role that removes toxins in your brain that build up while you are awake”. Our body and brain are active while we are sleeping and are decluttering and cleaning up toxic thoughts, words or bad experiences while we are sleeping. This is why we feel better about a bitter circumstance after a good sleep.

Our brain responds to our mind (feelings, emotions and thoughts). While the brain and body are busy with their housekeeping chores, we must put our mind on the praise mode. As we go to sleep it is important to put our mind on neutral gear of ‘praise and worship’. The best sleeping pill is praise. Our soul will turn into a praise powerbank while we sleep. It is like plugging our phone on charge. If we go to bed with grudges, anger and bitterness, the brain and body will try to scrape the toxin, but will fail to get rid of the adamant animosity. However, if we shift to the praise mode – worshiping God in a heavenly language or with a psalm or a song of praise, it becomes the bleach- and stain-removing detergent to get rid of toxins in our memory box.

While our body is resting, our spirit and soul will continue to worship if we fall asleep praising God. Praise sets the stage for miracles. God provides for those He loves even while they sleep (Psalm 127:2b). The Lord brings business opportunities and breakthroughs if we habitually worship in our sleep. When the body is at rest, the spirit will be at its best if we set it on ‘praise mode’.

Praise God in your sleep:

1.     Hallow: Make your bed your sanctuary. Stop worrying about the problem or peril and start praising.    Put aside doubts, depressing, and defeating thoughts. Pick a song or a verse, and repeat it until you fall asleep. I praise you, LORD, for being my guide. Even in the darkest night, your teachings fill my mind (Psalm 16:7). Fill your mind with the faithfulness of God, then, fear will dissipate.

2.     Horror: Praise turns your bed into a haven. This is why the Bible teaches us ‘Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry’ (Ephesians 4:26b). Don’t go to bed angry. The Harvard Medical School publication says that nightmares are caused by stress, anxiety, and irregular sleep. Praise turns the horror into a happy haven.

3.     Housekeeping: Our mind sends signals to the brain throughout the night to forgive, forget, refresh, and revisualize when the mind is set on praise mode. Eight hours of recharging turns our soul and spirit into a praise powerbank.

Praise mode in bed will wake us up recharged and rejuvenated.

Psalm 119:62 In the middle of the night I wake up to praise you for your righteous judgments.

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, I will put my mind on praise mode when I sleep, and wake up refreshed as a praise powerbank.  Amen.
