25 August 2023 – Blessed – Part 6

Numbers 23:20-22 Behold, I have received His command to bless [Israel]. He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it. God has not observed wickedness in Jacob [for he is forgiven], Nor has He seen trouble in Israel. The LORD their God is with Israel, And the shout of their King is among the people.

A blessed life does not mean it is problem-free, pain-free and pressure-free; but a life where problems turn into promotions, pain into power and pressure into a pathway of divine possessions. In the trouble, turmoil, and tempest, we will see the power of God invading, fighting and overcoming the enemy. The blessing of the Lord does not keep us trouble-free, but will certainly keep us dread-free. The blessed assurance is that the weapons that form and the wicked plans that are connived will not prevail against us.

God had blessed Israel and no one could curse or condemn them. The king of Moab employed Balaam, a witchdoctor, to cast a spell on the Israelites. Now come and put a curse on these people, because they are too powerful for me. Perhaps then I will be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land. For I know that whoever you bless is blessed, and whoever you curse is cursed” (Numbers 22:6). Balaam, driven by the greed of money, consented to curse Israel, but the Lord put a bridle over his tongue and he could only bless and not curse them.

We need not be afraid of the conspiring demonic sorcerers, witches, wizards, or warlocks. Demons are afraid of us. They cannot come near us, let alone wag their tails at us. We, ‘the blessed’ have a firewall of angelic protection around us 24/7. However, fear, pride, idolatry, disobedience, foul habits, unwholesome language, waywardness or stubbornness, open doors and activate the crafty ploys and cunning curses to accost us.

God’s blessing cannot be reversed by curses:

1.     Fear: Fear attracts the attention of hell on our blessings. What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me (Job 3:23). Living in dread and fear will awaken dead curses. Faith jaded by fear is fragile. Job’s dread caused destruction to his family and fortune. Don’t be afraid of the devil, he is petrified about your prayer life.

2.     Fury: Anger, rage and fury gives an opportunity to the devil to gaslight us with doubt and destroy our future. “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil” (Eph. 4:26-27). Fury and resentment invites offence that opens a can of worms.

3.     Façade: Fake and false representations and façades invite demonic attacks. Be real, transparent, and truthful before God and people.

God’s chosen can never be cursed, even by the king of warlocks and queen of witches. God has blessed us; no one can curse us.

Numbers 23:23a There is no divination against Jacob, no evil omens against Israel.

Prayer: Almighty Father, thank you for choosing me and shrouding me with your protections and blessings. I surrender any fear, fury or fakeness hidden in my heart. Amen.
