2 Samuel 7:28-29 “Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant. Now be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, Sovereign Lord, have spoken, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever.”
“Prayers outlive the lives of those who uttered them; outlive a generation, outlive an age, outlive a world.” – E.M Bounds
Our prayers have life and they never die. Prayers of the righteous travel far beyond territorial limits, penetrate beyond age and era, and transcend the terrestrial realm. Our prayers can break through the jurisdictional airspace and borders of our countries. Our prayers will outlive our time on earth and break through the thick black cloud of the demonic realm and travel into the heavenly realm. Once we understand how powerful our hour of prayer is, we will never miss our time with the Sovereign Lord.
King David at the end of his victorious reign prayed a humble prayer that the blessing of the Lord might continue forever on his house and the Lord God honoured his petition. Even the generations of David who were not faithful to the Lord were shrouded by David’s prayer. King Jesus came through the family-line of David and was called the Son of David. The prayers, praise, and worship of David outlived his time on earth and is still encouraging, comforting and uplifting us. Our prayers are not restricted to time, space or territorial jurisdiction.
The servant of the Roman centurion was healed miles away as soon as his petition was granted by Jesus. And his servant was healed at that moment (Matthew 8:13b) the centurion’s prayer was answered. Prayers from a pure heart, shatter the demonic layers of darkness into shambles and bullets through into heaven.
The atomic power of prayer:
1. Territorial bounds: Our prayers break territorial border restrictions and can pierce from one end of the earth to the other end of the continent with creative power. We need not be near or with the person we are praying for. Prayer of the faithful, miles and miles away, will travel like a missile penetrating through the airspaces of different nations and will transform people and change crucible circumstances.
2. Travels: Our prayers outlive our time on earth and can live beyond our time on earth. It can go behind us and reverse the generational curses of the past and go forward into decades and centuries and continue blessing our generations to come. David blessed his generations until King Jesus was born into his family.
3. Transcend: Our prayers transcend from the terrestrial into the celestial and ascend into the courtroom of heaven. Our prayers transcends into the heavenly realm where you and I cannot go with our physical bodies to plead our case.
The prayer of the blood-bathed child of God pierces through territorial boundaries, travels beyond the present into the past and the future, and transcends into heaven’s courtroom.
Acts 10:31a Your prayer has been heard.
Prayer: Jesus my Lord and my King, may my prayers traverse far to the ends of the earth and outlive me and touch my generations to come. May my prayers be a sweet incense in heaven. Amen.
