Genesis 9:12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come.”
Rainbows are formed when sunlight is refracted from raindrops and dispersed into the seven colors. The rainbow effect occurs because the light is then reflected inside the droplet and finally refracted out again into the air. The colours you see when a rainbow appears are the result of light being split into its various individual wavelengths. It is refreshing to see the painting of the seven miraculous colours in the sky.
The rainbow is a symbolic representation of God’s promise on the sky. It is a sketch on the canvas of God’s cosmos to let us know that He will never forget His promises or forsake us. Rainbows are emblems of God’s faithfulness to protect, preserve and provide for us. This covenant is a solemn pledge that the Lord God made with Himself. This is a covenant of God’s integrity to all future generations. It is not a reminder to God to be faithful (His faithfulness never fails) but it is a reminder to us that He is a covenant-keeping and incredibly-loving God.
In 2024, God wants us to look up at the sign of His promise and remind ourselves that He is faithful to all His promises. He is the God of Baal-perazim. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim” (1 Chronicles 14:11). Rainbows break forth after a storm or heavy showers to remind us that He is a God of breakthroughs/(Baal-perazim).
2024 will be a year of Baal-perazim:
1. Reflection: God’s promise to us in 2024 is a reflection of God’s goodness and His nature. The light reflects inside the droplets before it refracts as a rainbow, likewise, God’s faithfulness reflects His goodness in the teardrops of our trails and refracts into breakthroughs of His blessings. There will be no rainbow without the storm clouds and teardrops. God’s promise reflects His faithfulness.
2. Refraction: Refraction is the change in the direction of a wave passing from one medium to another. We do not qualify for any of the blessings that we have or are going to receive. God’s promise refracts/(bends)/stoops down to our level when it transcends from the spiritual realm into the natural realm. As the rainbow colours refract from the droplets, God’s faithfulness bends/refracts to accept, forgive, give and bless us even when we falter, fail and fall.
3. Rainbow: There is a rainbow behind the dark rain clouds. The rainbow of seven colours is the sevenfold promise of God’s goodness, kindness, mercy, faithfulness, forgiveness, graciousness and grandeur.
2024 is a year of Baal-perazim; it is a year of God’s faithfulness, fullness and fulfillment of God’s promise. Happy New Year!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I commit this New Year into your hands. Help me to look up to heaven and live under the rainbow of our provision, protection and providence. Amen.
