03 January 2024 – The Rainbow – Part 3

Genesis 9:13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” Dolly Parton

Sunlight is white but it consists of seven different colours. Sunlight splits into seven colors namely violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red (VIBGYOR) when it passes through the raindrops to form a rainbow. When all these colours merge and mix again it becomes white. The light bends as it passes through the prism and splits apart to form the splendid seven coloured rainbow.

Both symbolically and literally, the glory of the Lord that shines ever so brightly in the heavens transcends from the celestial to the terrestrial and exhibits the beauty of His goodness like a rainbow. The glory of God bends/stoops down to break forth into the different colours representing the nature of God. Red is the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross for our redemption. Orange indicates that He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. Yellow reminds us that He yielded Himself willingly for us. Green brightly declares His goodness. Blue talks about His benevolence and humanity; Indigo, is the colour of royalty and Violet pronounces the victory that we have in Him.  The rainbow displays the compassion of Christ Jesus for the broken world. He bent and stooped down to display His love on the cross of Calvary.

Likewise, the light of God’s glory will display God-colours through our life only when we go through affliction, pain and suffering. There will be no refraction of light without the raindrops hanging in the sky and there will be no display of God’s nature in us without teardrops and testing.

In 2024 display God-colours to the world:

1.     Teardrops: The trickles of teardrops on our face become the prism for the light of God to refract and reflect His nature to the world. My suffering was good for me, for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees (Psalm 119:71). Our teardrops become the conduit for God-colours to shine through us.

2.     Sundrops: Teardrops turn into pretty sundrops (flowers) when the light of God’s Word strengthens us. You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy (Psalm 30:11). As sundrops brighten the landscape of your garden, our lives will display the grandeur of God’s glory.

3.     Airdrops: The teardrops pave the way for divine airdrops. Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the LORD tested Joseph’s character (Psalm 105:19). Until the divine promotion, progression and prosperity was airdropped to Joseph, He was tested and tried in the furnace of affliction. Teardrops break, melt and prepare us to receive divine airdrops.

In 2024, let the teardrops turn into sundrops and pave the way for airdrops. Let the bright light of God’s purity and holiness exhibit the gorgeous God-colours through our lives.

Isaiah 4 8:10 I have refined you, but not as silver is refined. Rather, I have refined you in the furnace of suffering.

Prayer: Father God, refine, reform and refurbish me so that I may display your splendid nature and God-colours to the dark, broken and baffled world. Amen.
