06 February 2024 – Hallowed – Part 2

Matthew 6:9 “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name”.

To hallow the name of the Almighty God is to ‘greatly revere and honour Him’. His names reveal His character. As we meditate on His name, His presence becomes conspicuous. Hallowing or revering is an invitation to the King of Kings to be enthroned over our lives. You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel (Psalm 22:3). We can feel the unseen presence of God as we hallow His name. Prayer is a portal into heaven. Honouring the name of our God inundates the presence of God into our hearts and homes.

The moment we start conversing, praising and worshipping the Lord His incredible presence engulfs us. Praise augments the presence of God; Praise is the platform for God’s presence. Praise changes the atmosphere from gloom to glory in seconds. Ezekiel prophesied over the city of Jerusalem that was lying in ruins, “The circumference of the city shall be 18,000 cubits. And the name of the city from that time on shall be, The LORD Is There” (Ezekiel 48:35). ‘The Lord is There’ in the Hebrew Bible is “Jehovah Shammah”. Shammah is derived from the Hebrew word ‘sham’, which is translated as “there.” Jehovah Shammah was present not only in the flamboyant temple that King Solomon built but also in the rubbles of Jerusalem after it was war-torn by the Babylonians.

God’s presence is no more contained in a place but in the hearts of His people who seek Him and submit to Him. “And I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them and be their God” (Revelation 21:3). God’s presence is present where His people build an altar of praise. We don’t have to go on a pilgrimage to see Him. We can meet Him wherever we are. Jehovah Shammah will not hesitate to flood into our kitchen table, office cubicle or into our vehicle where we worship Him.

Jehovah Shammah – ‘The Lord is there’:

1.     Accord: Jehovah Shammah assures His presence where there is unity. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20). Jehovah Shammah will come as a mighty rushing wind into every gathering that seeks Him in one accord. This is why demons actively stirrup disunity and dissension in the family, among friends and in churches.

2.     Acclamation: Praise and worship inundate God’s presence into our terrain. “Wherever I cause my name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you” (Exodus 20:24b).

3.     Admiration: Testifying is the bandwidth of heaven; glorifying God connects us to the hotline of Jesus. Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other, and the LORD listened and heard (Malachi 3:16).

Hallow His Holy name and Jehovah Shammah will be there.

Zachariah 2:5 And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the LORD, ‘and I will be its glory within.’

Prayer: Jehovah Shammah, I hallow and worship your Holy name. Come and make your home in my heart. Amen.
