12 March 2024 – Stronghold – Part 2

Psalms 144:2 He is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.

A stronghold is a well-defended place surrounded by armed military force. It need not necessarily be a building or a walled fortress. The word “stronghold” is a compound word or combination of two words “Strong”+”Hold”. ‘Strong’ indicates the physical strength and sturdiness to withstand assaults and ‘hold’ is to contain and accommodate.

The name of the Lord is a fortified, well-defended and divinely armed stronghold! The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe (Proverbs 18:10). Understanding, confessing and proclaiming the name of the Lord builds an invisible wall of refuge around us. Every time the name of the Lord is uttered, a brick is laid and the more and more we revere and reverence His holy, all-powerful, all-mighty name brick by brick a stronghold of protection is built around our family, health, wealth, visions, ministry, finances, jobs and business. When the enemy comes with a lethal ploy to attack, steal and destroy us, we will watch him being annihilated from the tower of refuge! “A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the punishment” (Psalm 91:7-8).

We who build the stronghold of protection by revering, ascribing, confessing and declaring the name of Jesus, the supreme Omnipotent God, will observe the justice of God unfurling against those who oppose, hurt or attack the King’s kids. We will watch like a movie from the tower of refuge, the all-powerful hand of God defending and defeating our foes.

Building Strongholds of Refuge:

1.     Confess: Our confessions are bricks that build the invisible walls of protection. Words of our mouth have power and acknowledging the name of the Lord is a powerful weapon that builds reinforcement around us that no demon can touch us. Confession of the goodness, grace and glory of our God becomes the building-blocks, brick and mortar of the stronghold. Confess the all-powerful, almighty name of “Jesus”.

2.     Profess: To profess is to declare, proclaim and announce publicly our faith and trust in the Lord.  David’s response to Goliath the Philistine giant was, “You are coming against me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the Israelite” (1 Samuel 17:45). When intimidated, mocked or ruthlessly attacked, profess boldly the name, might and power of the Lord.

3.     Integrous: Integrity, purity and holiness are steel beams in the walls of the stronghold. Purity is powerful. Living a humble, simple and transparent life of purity strengthens the walls of our stronghold tremendously.

Confessing the name of our Lord, professing the power of God and a lifestyle of integrity builds fortified divine invisible stronghold of protection around us.

Psalm 29:2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name.

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, I will confess and profess your name that is exalted above all names day and night. Help me to live a life of integrity. Amen.
