31 March 2024 – Mind Makeover – Part 7

1 Corinthians 1:27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

The mind of Christ makes us wise. Wisdom is not accumulation but application of knowledge. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. (1 Corinthians 1:25). We find that there are many intellectuals who are overloaded with knowledge but are foolish with their choices and decisions. They will know what is right but will choose to wallow in wrongness. However, the ignorant, uneducated and unqualified that walk with the Lord are wiser than the scholarly. The Lord uses fools to shame the wise!

We will become like who we hang out with. “Show me your friend and I’ll tell you who you are”. The people we lend our ears to and spend most of our time with will influence our character. Similarly, those who spend quality time with the Lord God and prioritize soaking in His presence will inherit His nature, character and wisdom.

The Center for Psychosocial Research released a publication, “the Baylor Religion Survey (2010)” that said “Prayer is inversely associated with symptoms of anxiety-related disorders among individuals who have a secure attachment to God”. Prayer reverses anxiety-related disorders! As we converse with God, He imparts His wisdom and coaches us to maneuver through our daily challenges. Hence there will be no room for anxiety. Prayer neutralizes panic.

Nations came to King Solomon to listen to His wisdom. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn (Isaiah 61:3). We will attract different nationalities, ethnicities and authorities when we have a mind makeover. Wisdom of Christ is the light that those in darkness will be drawn towards.

Renewing the Mind:

1.         Outwit: Wisdom of Christ will make us wiser than our enemies. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are my constant guide (Psalm 119:98). We will outwit the plots, ploy and plans of the evil one.

2.         Outweigh: Wisdom of Christ will outweigh the intelligence of the world. “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished (Acts 4:13). The illiterate fishermen and commoners, Peter and John astonished intellectuals who were gathered in Jerusalem. We will outweigh the scholars and scientists with the wisdom of God.

3.         Outstand: Wisdom of God is an insight that is beyond human understanding; it is not textbook knowledge but the treasures of the kingdom.  God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore (1 Kings 4:29).

“Healthy mind is the key to a healthy man”.

Have a “mind makeover” in the presence of God in your prayer closet.

1 Kings 4:30-31a Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. He was wiser than anyone else.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I will renew my mind by marinating in your presence. Teach me to apply the acquired knowledge to make right choices and decisions. Amen.
