2 Samuel 5:20 So David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, “As waters break out, the Lord has broken out against my enemies before me.” So that place was called Baal Perazim.
David was a man of praise, man of prayer, a prophet and a powerful man of God. The secret of his ‘power’ was prayer and praise. David was a threat to both the horrendous enemies of Israel as well as to hellish demonic foes. He overthrew the enemies and overturned the plots of hell. Every time David advanced, it was a power punch on the face of the demons and the devil.
A power punch is an upper body strength that is capable of delivering a knockout strike. Some boxers will be genetically gifted with superior cognitive and physical abilities but power can be improved through training. David was strong both physically and spiritually. He had tremendous upper body strength in his biceps and his mindset. He gave the devil power punches every time he advanced and attacked through prayer and praise. David inquired of the Lord even in the middle of a seditious invasion. David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?” (vs 19). He never rushed or reacted to the enemy’s assault but positioned himself in prayer and praise to give the devil a power punch on his face.
Our battle with the demonic will be a quick ‘one-blow power-punch’ if we have a disciplined prayer and praise routine.
Build your upper body strength to give the devil a power punch on his face:
1. Baal Perazim: The Lord God obliterated the invaders like a flash flood from David’s territory. He said, “As waters break out, the Lord has broken out against my enemies before me.” So that place was called Baal Perazim (vs 20). Our prayer and praise sends flashfloods against the enemy and gives us a violent power punch.
2. Break-Out: The Lord’s hand will break-out like a flood that the enemy will drop their sacred possessions and flee. The Philistines abandoned their idols there, and David and his men carried them off (vs 21). The Philistines would carry their idols to have a winning edge over their opponents but they abandoned the idols as their idols became powerless at the power punch of David. The powerful strike that will destroy witchcraft, black magic or bloodline curses is methodical prayer, fasting and praise.
3. Blessing: Our only enemy is the devil. He will relentlessly lurk and stalk to assault and steal our blessings. When prayer and praise becomes our lifestyle they become powerful blows that will keep the intruders away. Protect your blessing with the praise and prayer power punch.
Build your upper body strength through prayer and praise. A lifestyle of worship throws bombshells in hell.
2 Samuel 5:25 So David did as the Lord commanded him, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon[d] to Gezer.
Prayer: Dearest Heavenly Father, make me a threat to hell and help me to build my upper body spiritual strength through a lifestyle of prayer and praise. Amen
