05 June 2024 – Power Punch – Part 3

1 Kings 18: “Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by fire—he is God.”

A child of God is an ambassador of the Almighty who has the authority to annihilate the demonic activity. The incident on the Mount of Carmel was a very dramatic and dynamic one that left a permanent dent on the door of hell.

Elijah stood alone as the representative of the Living God against a whole nation that had gone astray, along with their perverse King Ahab and 450 false prophets of Baal and 400 sorcerers of Asherah, the pagan gods. Elijah threw an open challenge to them to bring fire from heaven on their sacrifice. They prepared the bull and prayed, pleaded and danced but the demons went into hiding as they saw the man of God, Elijah standing against them. So they shouted louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until their blood flowed (vs 28). The customary practice to appease Baal was detestable human sacrifice and to placate Asherah was gross sensuality. Elijah began to taunt and tease them all day as they frantically shouted, slashed and bled to beg to their god.

We should never be afraid of the demonic realm; demons tremble in their pants when they see us worshipping, applying the blood of Jesus and walking in authority.

Annihilate demonic intervention with your Authority:

1.         Taunt: Hell is paralyzed when we walk in the authority as a child of God. Retort with authority and the Word of God when the fiery arrows of fear hits you from hell. Elijah did not sulk as he was alone against magicians and the ruthless mobs as he knew he had the backing of heaven. At noon Elijah began to taunt them. “Shout louder!” he said. “Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened (vs 27). Taunt the demons with your authority.

2.         Terrorize: Hell is terrorized and they lose all their powers when we put on our cloak of courage. When the demons whisper into your ears doom and evil forebodings, speak back that God is in control and He will turn the evil into good. Our courage and confidence in the Lord terrorizes the demons.

3.         Torture: Hell hates to hear us praise the Lord. Praise turns burdens into bombshells that destroy the demonic ghetto. Remember satan was a worship leader before his fall and he hates to see us replace him. So, praise during a busy day, take a praise-break in between business meetings, praise him when you walk, talk and even in the coffee shop. Sing praises as you put yourself to sleep at night. Praise is our weapon to torture the demons.

Taunt hell with your authority, terrorize demons with your courage and torture the devil with your incessant praise.

1 Kings 18:38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.

Prayer: King Jesus, teach me to walk in authority and to taunt, terrorize and torture hell. Amen.
