27 July 2024 – God and Me – Part 6

1 Samuel 1:16-17 Eli answered, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.”And she said, “Let your servant find favor in your eyes.” Then the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.

God and Me encounter restores joy, peace and hope. Our first appointment every morning should be with our Saviour and our Redeemer in our prayer closet. Our prayer-meets with Jesus ignite joy; instill serenity and implants hope beyond despondency. A personal touch from the Lord and His sweet still small voice of God is like the rising sun. Nothing can stop the sun from shining brighter and brighter. Just one word from the Lord will enter our despaired soul like a ray of sunlight and illuminate the darkened soul. The essence of our God and Me time is to drink from the living water and be filled and refreshed by Jesus.

Hannah went into the temple dejected and downcast but walked out of the temple delighted. Her face was not sad and her heart was not sorrowful after her encounter with the Lord. Her situation had not changed. She was still being mocked by Peninnah, her husband’s second wife, (who bred children like rabbits while she was barren). But her emptiness was filled with new hope as she soaked herself in God’s presence. There was a radical change in her countenance and her heart was bolstered with unshakable confidence. Her dead dreams came back to life after her encounter with the Lord.

God and Me encounters are not once in a blue moon experiences. It must be every day or even several times a day. The moment a qualm creeps in to depress us, we must step into our ‘God and Me bubble’ to be refreshed, revitalized and rejuvenated.

God and Me encounters:

1.         Refresh: Hannah ran into God’s presence to be refreshed with a rhema word. “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost (Isaiah 55:1). Plan your prayer calendar. Go to bed on time to spring up from bed the next morning for your prayer appointment. Make provision during your busy day to check-in with the Lord and be refreshed.

2.         Revitalize: Hannah went into the temple broken in her spirit but came back revitalized with hope and joy. God and Me encounters will revitalize our faith to go back to the same overwhelming situation and overthrow it.

3.         Rest: Hannah found her resting place in the presence of the Lord. Our personal time of prayer and one-on-one encounters are vital to our spiritual stability.

The most important appointment of the day is our meeting with the Lord God because our battles are won and all the demonic plans against us are sabotaged during our prayer-meet every morning.

Our ‘God and Me encounters revitalize our dreams and direct our destiny.

Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, I will prioritize meeting with you above all the other pressing and pressurizing appointments. I will run to you to be refreshed, revitalized and rest. Amen.
