Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
There are various theories and “thinking pillars” that aid “smart thinking”. The key element to smart thinking is “casual knowledge” or the ability to reason, analyze and action. Harvard University publication defines “Casual Knowledge” as the “casual chain” that connects facts, beliefs, knowledge, assumptions and problem solving actions. The casual chain aids in answering the ‘why, when, what and how’, in order to arrive at the smart, creative, innovative, intelligent and influential answer. The six common components of the “Think Smart Pillar” are 1) tools for analysis; 2) strategic purpose; 3) values; 4) vision; 5) key goals; and 6) action planning.
Six is the number of man but seven is the Biblical completion number of God. Smart-Thinking Pillar has six components but the Spiritual-Smart Thinking Pyramid has seven components – thoughts that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable and excellent or praiseworthy. Smart thoughts will take shape into smart actions and will direct our casual chain if we practice the seven components of the Spiritual Thinking Pyramid.
The prodigal son wandered astray by his frivolous thoughts and futile choices. Yet, there was a Rubicon moment that changed the trajectory of his life. “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! (Luke 15:17). The truth dawned on the prodigal son like the rising sun and he returned back to his father’s house.
‘Truth’ is God’s perspective on any matter. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32). “Your thoughts are incredibly powerful. Choose yours wisely.” — Joe Dispenza. The choice of our thoughts will build or break our lives. Choose God’s standpoint. The demons try to intrude into our lives through deceptive thoughts and shoot deceptive lies as fiery arrows. The moment we give in to the diabolical lies, they invade and mess our mind.
Spiritual Smart-Thinking:
1. Frivolous-Thoughts: Entertaining frivolous thoughts will build a sandcastle and lure us into cheap pleasures. The prodigal son’s frivolous thoughts made him leave home with his father’s wealth and waste it on prostitutes, pornography and parties. Facetious thoughts are dangerous. Floundering in fictitious thoughts will turn into foolish actions.
2. Frugal-Thoughts: Frugal or poverty mentality will stunt our vision and limit God. Never limit your vision with your bank balance, inadequate experience or past failures. Overcome frugal thinking with a royalty mentality. We are the King’s kids.
3. Futile-Thoughts: Engaging in futile thoughts will make us fruitless. Wallowing in the slander and sulking about the abusive past is only going to dishearten the present and destroy our future dream. So, get rid of futile, demeaning and useless thoughts.
The foundation of the smart thinking pyramid is truth. Meditate on what is true, not what is frivolous, fictitious, frugal or futile.
Isaiah 26:3 “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
Prayer: Father God, teach me to dwell in the truth and to get rid of frivolous, fictitious, frugal, fruitless and futile thoughts. Amen.
