11 November 2024 – Love Letter – Part 1

2 Timothy 3:15-17 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The Bible is God’s ‘Love Letter’ to us. It is not a general ‘Code of Ethics’ or a ‘Book of Instructions’ but a personal intimate letter to us. Neglecting the Word of God is disregarding and disrespecting God’s tender voice. The Bible is alive. It gives us life, hope and wisdom. We must open the Bible with the same eagerness as a young lover opens the letter from ‘the love of his/her heart’. The Bible imparts wisdom and helps us to make the right choices and prudent decisions. The more we read God’s Word, the more we will know Him, and the more we know Him, the wiser we will become.

God’s ‘Love Letter’, the Bible, is loaded with wisdom. It is the breadth of God. God’s Word teaches, rebukes, corrects and trains us to choose right from wrong. God’s Word equips us to live purposefully and fruitfully. God’s Word is our mandate as His Word reveals ‘God’s will’‘God’s mind’ and ‘God’s wisdom’. God’s Word must be imprinted in our head and our hearts. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads (Deuteronomy 6:8). The more we know God’s Word, the more we will understand His mind.  The more we seek to understand God’s mind and immerse ourselves in His Word, the more clearly we will hear His heartbeat. The knowledgeable know the Word but the wise know Him. So, reading, retaining and recollecting the Word of God makes us wise in all our ways.

Discipleship means discipline:

1.         Read: Read aloud. If we read the Bible quietly in our mind, the chances of the mind meandering is very high. Reading the Word aloud helps our physical ears to hear the Life-Giving Word and prints the Word that is read in our heart. Read every day, read several times a day and read aloud.

2.         Retain: Retaining the Word of God is an intentional and essential daily routine. Memorize at least one verse a day. Memorize if possible in more than one language. Write down the memorized verse to register it in the tablet of the heart. Reading aloud and writing helps us to retain the Word in our heart.

3.         Recollect: When we read regularly and retain meticulously, the Holy Spirit will help us to recollect at the right time. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you (John 14:26).

The Bible is God’s Love Letter to you and me. Never, never ,never neglect it.

Deuteronomy 6:6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.

Prayer: Father God, I love your Word. Speak to me through your Living Word every day. Amen.
