11 January 2025 – The Template – Part 4

Matthew 6:9-11 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven Hallowed be Your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

We move into Part-2 of the template where we talk to God about our needs, wants and desires. Is it even necessary to talk to God about our needs? Does He not know everything including our requirements? Yes, He does, but hunger and appetite is a solemn reminder that the Lord God is the provider of all our blessings.

The second part of the prayer template teaches us to express our material, emotional and spiritual desires. It is not wrong to talk to God about our material, financial and monetary pressures. Jesus did not stop us from telling Him our requirements, in fact He said, “Ask, and it shall be given you” (Matthew 7:7a). He only said that we must not worry about the problems, predictions or prognosis, after submitting our requests to Him in prayer (Matthew 6:25-33).

Submit the physical wants and surrender the psychological appetites to the Lord. He is the source for all our blessings.

Template Part-2:

1.         Work-kit: To meet our physical needs, He will give us a “work-kit”. The Lord did not provide baked bread from heaven to the wandering Israelites. He showered manna that looked like coriander seeds (Exodus 16:31). They grounded the manna into flour and prepared meals by baking or boiling it. Likewise, God will give us the skills, acumen and opportunities to produce wealth. He has given us the work-kit for our physical and financial needs.

2.         Tool-kit: He will provide us a tool-kit when we go to Him with our emotional needs. If we pray for patience, He will put us in situations to fine tune our patience. The spiritual tools and weapons that help us to overcome our instinctive emotional cravings are the name of Jesus, the blood and His Word.

3.         Study-kit: Our spiritual needs to grow and know Him are matured by studying, reading, memorizing and exercising the Word of God. Go back to the basics and read His Word to grow and bear much fruits.

There are daily provisions of physical, emotional and spiritual nourishment for those who seek Him.

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, give me my daily bread that satisfies my body and satiates my soul and spirit. Amen.
