To host the presence of the Lord is to invite, enjoy, entertain and be enthralled by His love, grace and majesty. According to the Jewish Historian Josephus, Samuel was 12 years old when the Lord called out to him by his name and prophetically anointed Samuel to pronounce judgement on the wickedness of the sons of Eli. Both allegorically and symbolically, Samuel was lying down under the shadow of the Ark of God. He was abiding under the presence of the Almighty God and was anointed with the prophetic anointing and spiritual insight.
“Hosting the presence of the Lord anoints us with prophetic gifts, discernment and spiritual insight”.
Hosting God’s presence with humility, integrity and reverential fear will shower prophetic anointing on us. “But on this one will I look, one humble and of a contrite spirit, who trembles at My word” (Isaiah 66:2). Samuel had a flawed mentor, Eli, the High Priest. He was raised under a corrupt environment of Eli’s sons. Eli’s sons were scoundrels; they had no regard for the Lord (1 Samuel 2:12). Yet Samuel chose to abide and dwell under the presence of the Almighty God. His reverential fear, sincerity and modesty anointed him as the first prophet for the nation of Israel.
Hosting the presence showers prophetic anointing:
1. Humility: The first and most profound character trait that we will notice in a prophet is humility. Prophets will never call themselves prophets. Their ordinary words will carry supernatural and extraordinary prophetic anointing.
2. Integrity: You will know them by their fruits. The gift of prophecy does not operate without fruits. If the fruit of the Holy Spirit is absent in a person who calls themselves prophets, then, beware. Fruits precede gifts.
3. Piety: Reverential fear of God will lead a prophet. There will be no people pleasing or personal agenda in a prophet anointed by the Lord. The awareness of God’s awesome presence will automatically piety and reverential fear of the Lord.
“Hosting the presence of the Lord endows us with prophetical anointing”.
Prayer: King Jesus, I submit to abide under your presence day and night, 24/7. Help me to carry your presence and may my ordinary words be anointed with prophetic anointing. Amen.
