Revelation 1:14&16b The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire…His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.
White light is the culmination of the rainbow colours and appears white to the visible light spectrum. Visible spectrum is the electromagnetic range that human eyes can capture and see. When John saw the resurrected Christ in the Island of Patmos, he saw Him as a bright shining sun in all its brilliance. He could not lift up his head to see the Risen King in all His glory. The hair on his head which appeared like white wool was the brilliant colours from the throne. When the combination of the colours enters the eyes at equal intensity our brain interprets the mixture of light as “white light”.
As white light is a culmination of the rainbow colours, the risen King Jesus, in his royalty and authority, appeared as a bright shining light. When Jesus interjected the path of the murderer Saul, he saw Jesus as a bright light. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him (Acts 9:3). It was the glory of the Lord that transformed pejorative Saul into preacher Paul.
As our naked eyes cannot see the sun, our human brain cannot fully comprehend God’s glory, however as we get closer to His glory/nature, the substratum our faith becomes audacious and steadfast.
The Glory of God – is the nature of God:
1. Combination: He is the combination of power, love and goodness; royalty, nobility and authority. He is majestic and mighty yet meek and mild. He is the Almighty King yet, He is our loving father.
2. Culmination: His glory is the culmination of all of His greatness, holiness and power. His ultimate supremacy will keep us in perfect tranquility. No authority/power/throne can stand before our Glorious King.
3. Comprehension: As we zoom into His nature, we will magnify Him as the King of Glory and the ultimate authority over the entire universe. Living under the glory cloud will drive out the fear of uncertainty, fear of future and the fear of death.
The glory of God is the culmination of His greatness, goodness and graciousness.
Prayer: King Jesus, You are my Everlasting Father, help me to see you in the fullness of your glory. Amen.
