Acts 10:12 So passing through the first ward and the second, they came to the iron door which leads into the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.
Peter was locked up behind iron doors for preaching the Gospel boldly. Herod Agrippa-I, the grandson of Herod the Great, incarcerated Peter and had planned to execute him the next morning. Unshaken by the threat of death, Peter was sound asleep in the prison. His hands and feet were bound by two chains to probably two soldiers. Herod took extra precaution in this arrest because earlier when the apostles were arrested and locked up in Acts 5, the angel of the Lord rescued them out of the prison. But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out (Acts 5:19). So Peter was not only in a high security prison, with iron doors guarded by 16 soldiers but he was also chained. The angel of the Lord walked through the closed prison cell, broke the chains and brought Peter out of the iron door. There is no iron door that the Lord cannot smash open and no chains that He cannot shatter.
Our situation might look dark and despondent but the iron door will automatically open when God sends an angel to rescue us. The iron door that has hemmed you in could look hopeless but the angel of the Lord would hick the iron door open.
The Iron Door:
1. Dark: The dark situations will brighten up when the Lord sends His angels to open the iron doors for us. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell (vs 7a).
2. Dim: The dim impossibility will turn into a miraculous door when the Lord intervenes into our situation. Don’t become stressed but trust God for a miraculous intervention in the dim dark prison.
3. Dungeon: There is no dungeon or stronghold that can keep a child of God incarcerated. The iron doors will obey the command of heaven.
The iron doors will automatically open when God intervenes.
Prayer: God of Might and Power, intervene into my dark dim dungeon and open the prison door for me. Amen.
