Joshua 6:1 Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in. Then the LORD said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.
The first piece of the Promised Land that Joshua and his untrained Hebrew soldiers conquered was Jericho. The Lord God promised victory even before they went into the battlefield. The battle strategies to capture the securely shut up city with impenetrable walls was marching, blowing and shouting, carrying the Ark of the Covenant (God’s Presence). March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets (vs 3 &4). For six days they were to have their finger on their lips. They had to march in silence but on the seventh day after the seventh round, the priests were directed to blow the horn and the people had to raise a shout of praise to the Lord. They had to shout first before the walls collapsed.
There are some doors that we will face that are securely shut up. It could be an impenetrable callous heart of a wayward family member, an irreversible diagnosis or a barrier that seems impossible to get through. Our battle strategy is to march, blow and shout – Pray, Praise and Proclaim. Don’t talk about the impenetrable door. When we cannot get past the door our Lord God will bring the wall along with the door down. Demonic doors must be pulled down with spiritual weapons.
Tightly Shut Doors:
1. Crumble: If the door is tightly shut, don’t worry, pray and the door will come crumbling down.
2. Cower: As we blow the horn of praise, the enemy will cower and hide. The courage of the enemy will melt and hearts will tremble in fear as we praise. Praise is a powerful ‘demon-repellent’ that we must use to drive out intruding demons.
3. Capture: Thank God in advance. Thanksgiving and gratitude are the crowbars and bulldozers that will pull down the tightly shut door.
Pray, praise and proclaim to pull down the impenetrable doors.
Prayer: Father God, help me to use my spiritual weapons of prayer and praise not the carnal weapons of words and writs. Amen.
