Exodus 28:41 After you put these clothes on your brother Aaron and his sons, anoint and ordain them. Consecrate them so they may serve me as priests.
The priests had to be washed, dressed and anointed before they entered the Holy Place to serve the Lord. Whenever they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water so that they will not die (Exodus 30:20). The priestly garments were rich and opulent. It was studded with precious stones and embroidered with golden threads. After they were clothed with the classy priestly garments they were anointed to be consecrated. After you put these clothes on your brother Aaron and his sons, anoint and ordain them. This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come. (Exodus 30:21).
We who are God’s Royal Priesthood should symbolically cleanse, clothe and anoint ourselves just like Aaron and his sons. This is a lasting ordinance which means that this must be our daily prayer routine. We cannot enter into a mode of intercession and prayer without first washing away the dirt in our soiled soul with the Word of God. Psalms and Proverbs is a good place to start cleansing our mind and moods. Then, we must put on each piece of the priestly garment. The Ephod and the breastplate symbolize the spirit of discernment; the blue robe is the robe of righteousness; the turban is the sacred emblem of holiness, the tunic and sash are emblematic of honour and dignity.
We must always be clothed with the spiritual garments that would distinguish us as servants and ministers of the Lord.
Dressed in Priestly Garments:
1. Cleanse: God’s Word washes and cleanses us. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you (John 15:3).
2. Clothe: Put on every piece of the priestly garment of discernment, love, holiness, righteousness and endurance.
3. Cover: Priestly Garments without anointing will be of no use. We need a fresh anointing every day. Humbling ourselves before God daily is like the process of extracting hand pressed olive oil. (Exodus 27:20).
Put on the Royal Priestly garments to distinguish yourself as the chosen royal priests of the King of Kings!
Prayer: King Jesus, I humble myself to be washed by your word, clothed by the priestly garments and slathered by fresh anointing daily. Amen.
