10 May 2025 – The Unseen Enemy – Part 4

Numbers 13:29&32b The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan. And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored.

The spirit of Amalek intimidates, belittles and mocks.  When the spirit of Amalek operates in a person, it often manifests through disparaging remarks and scornful, belittling mockery. The spirit of Amalek will insinuate dread and unrest. Again, our battle is not with flesh and blood. It is not with those who coerce or criticize but with the spirit of Amalek that is operating through them. It is a controlling spirit that causes turbulence in the atmosphere and tumult in the air.

Moses sent twelve leaders of Israel to explore the land of Canaan. He asked them to bring a report on the land, soil, people, cities and trees & fruits (vs 20). After 40 days they returned back carrying a ginormous cluster of grapes on a pole, carried by two men, along with some pomegranates and figs.  So, the report about the land, soil and trees & fruits were great, but ten out of the twelve brought a dreadful report about the people and the cities. They said, “We even saw descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites live in the Negev”…(vs 28b-29a). It was less than a year ago, in 1446 BC, that they defeated the Amalekites at Rephidim, under the leadership of Joshua. Yet they could not trust God as their eyes were focused on the giants, and not God.

The Unseen Enemy:

1.         Intimidate: The spirit of Amalek is intimidating. Don’t let the fear of people or their power intimidate you. It is the spirit of Amalek that has to be subdued.

2.         Insinuate: The spirit of Amalek will make us feel less than or weaker than them. The Israelites saw themselves as grasshoppers in their eyes. It is a belittling spirit that mocks and insinuates fear. When we feel inadequate or inferior we are being influenced by the spirit of Amalek.

3.         Insecure: Insecurity is the incarceration strategy of the spirit of Amalek.

God is mightier than the intimidating and insinuating spirit of Amalek.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, with you on my side I will never be insecure but will overpower the intimidating spirit of Amalek. Amen.
