Romans 1:17b “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Faith is not abstract; it is a substance. Faith is not subjective (to our feelings), but is an objective reality. Faith must never be confused as an ‘emotional, conceptual or scriptural theory’. It is a matter of solidity and essence. The best definition of faith is Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is nurtured in the womb of hope. Faith outside the womb of hope will be aborted! However, what we hope for will determine if the substance is ‘faith’ or ‘fantasy’.
Our hope is not just a feeling of expectation to gratify our carnal needs. Hope that contradicts the scriptures is a felony and a fantasy. Hope must be rooted in the promises of God. “Let’s hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, because the one who made the promises is reliable” (Hebrews 10:23). Weave the cocoon of hope with the promises from the Holy Scriptures.
“Faith believes that God will do what He says He will.”
So, in the cocoon of hope, faith is cultivated as a substance. Like a scan report that confirms the existence of a fetus in the womb of a mother, the vision of the miracle in our heart is the evidence of faith. Hence, the substance of faith can be best defined as the vision of the miracle. The peace and joy we experience in our souls, regardless of our circumstances, is also the evidence of faith bolstered by hope. Fear and anxiety is the evidence of the lack of faith or faint faith.
The righteous, (who are washed by the blood of Jesus), dwell in the Faith Bubble.
The Faith Bubble:
1. Fear: Fear is absence of hope or rather a foreboding of a bad outcome. Living in constant fear is a subtle disobedience. Fear is a sin that kills/aborts faith.
2. Fantasy: God is not obligated to fulfill our fantasies and daydreams. The substance of faith must be rooted in God’s promises.
3. Faith: Faith is a vision of our future through the lens of God’s Word.
Faith is the vision of God’s promises nurtured in the womb of hope.
Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, I will cultivate and foster my faith on your immovable, unwavering promises and rest in the Faith Bubble. Amen.
