18 August 2025 – Mindcraft – Part 6

2 Corinthians 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

“Mindcraft is a proactive approach where individuals consciously shape their thoughts, beliefs, and perspectives to foster growth and navigate challenges effectively. It means architecting your mental space, decluttering negative thoughts, and planting seeds of positivity, resilience, and ambition.”

Mindcraft is deliberately refining our mind by capturing discouraging and demeaning thoughts and correcting them under the light of God’s Word. It is like showering our mind with soap and water and cleansing derogatory thoughts.

Brain has “negative bias” which means it reacts strongly to negative thoughts, ideas and experiences more than positive ones. Dr. Rick Hanson, a neuropsychologist, says “The brain is like Velcro for negative experiences but Teflon for positive ones.” Negative thoughts stick like Velcro whereas positive ones slip away like Teflon. One negative thought can spiral into a string of pessimistic thought patterns if the cycle is not interrupted. Uninterrupted negative cycles and thinking patterns are the cause for depression.

Speak to the negative voice in your head and call it ‘a liar’. Pretentious lies are shot at us like a fiery arrow from the demonic realm. To counter one negative thought we must replace it with five positive thoughts. So, mutilate the evil foreboding before it plants itself in the mind. Idle mind entertains fruitless arguments, ‘self-pity’ or ‘victim mentality’. Peel the Velcro of bad past experiences, insults or losses and plant thoughts of vision and purpose. Redesign the mind by conscious thinking.

Mindcraft – Demolish Negative Bias:

1.             Instruction: Instruct your mind. A mind without instruction is like a wild animal. Instructions tame and bridle our mind.

2.             Deconstruction: No one can discipline our mind for us; we must intentionally tear down wrong thoughts. Demolish negativity, arguments and deceptions by capturing and dismissing them. The Holy Spirit is our ‘helper’ who will enable us to deconstruct and reconstruct our mind.

3.             Reconstruction: Replace the disparaging thoughts with the promises of God. The wicked are waiting to destroy me, but I will ponder your statutes (Psalm 119:95). Pondering on the scripture is the process of reconstruction of healthy thoughts.

Mindcraft is deconstructing ‘negativity’ and reconstructing ‘purpose’, based on the promises of God.

Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, Teach me to train my mind to hold onto positive thoughts like Velcro and release negativity like Teflon. Amen.
