Ephesians 6:14-17 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

In the spiritual battle, the “belt of truth” establishes our relationship with the Lord as our Kinsmen-Redeemer, and our fellowship with Him our Father. Though the belt is the final piece of physical armor a soldier puts on, the “belt of truth” is the first piece of spiritual armor a believer must wear. Then we must put on the “breast plate of righteousness” that fills our heart with courage to stand as a warrior, with the angel armies, against the wiles of the devil. Without the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness, the demons will batter us with guilt, condemnation and shame. The “shoes of the gospel of peace” is the next piece of armour that assures us of the reconciliation with God and man. These are preparatory armories that we must put on before we wear the defensive weapons of shield and helmet.
The “shield of faith” protects the heart. Our trust and confidence in Christ Jesus is the “shield of faith” that quenches the flaming arrow of doubt and disbelief. The “helmet of salvation” protects the head. A disciplined mind that resists pessimism and repeats the promises defuses the fiery darts of fear and foreboding. The “sword of the Spirit” is the only but the most powerful offensive weapon to butcher the demons.
Spiritual Warfare – Put on the Armour:
1. Protective: Follow the order and put on the protective and preparatory pieces of the armour first.
2. Defensive: The defensive pieces of the armour protect our heart and head from panic and perturbations.
3. Offensive: Slice the head and silence the mouth of the garrulous demons with the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God.
Protect, defend, offend and annihilate the demonic forces.
Prayer: King Jesus, train me to be a skilled warrior and massacre the demonic intruders. Amen.
