2 Kings 6:5 As one of them was cutting down a tree, the iron axhead fell into the water. “Oh no, my lord!” he cried out. “It was borrowed!”
“Jesus HELP! —the shortest, yet one of the most powerful prayers we can pray.”
After infidelity, financial losses and constraints are the second leading cause of divorce. Disagreements over money management, spending and saving have surged as the second common reason in marital issues. Lack and losses can become very burdensome and oppressive. When a financial crisis strangles our unity, joy and peace, the most powerful prayer to pray is “Jesus Help”.
The disciples of Prophet Elisha decided to start an extension project of their worship centre. Elisha gave them his approval and went along with them as they chopped wood near the River Jordan. But accidentally the axhead of one of his disciples slipped and fell into the river. He immediately cried, “Oh no, my lord!” There could have been few reasons why the axhead dislodged itself from the handle and fell into the river. The axhead might have been loosely fitted, or the axhead was not sharp enough and as the man was exerting his strength to cut the tree it slipped out or it may have simply been carelessness. Whatever be it – he immediately cried for help.
When you face unexpected expenses or losses go to the Lord for wisdom and direction. Pray a prayer of surrender and wait for God’s instructions. The Lord will impress a thought, concept or idea in our heart that might sound ridiculous. The Lord directed Elisha to throw a stick into the water to make the axhead float. God’s wisdom might be against the scientific, financial or logical facts, but implicit obedience is the secret to financial breakthroughs.
Help:
1. Loose: When we pray for help, God will sharpen the ‘ax’ in our head with innovative ideas and smart strategies. The Lord will tighten the loose axhead.
2. Loss: Take your loss to the Lord and He will turn the loss into a blessing. God’s wisdom will turn the loss into a financial blessing.
3. Lavish: Jesus is the greatest financial adviser who will teach us to invest wisely and curtail lavish spending. He will sharpen our thinking with financial wisdom.
“Jesus Help” will make the axhead float.
Prayer: Jesus Help, I need your advice, wisdom and direction to thrive financially. Amen.
