Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; See if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.”
Regular health-checks become essential after the age of 40 to detect any age-related conditions that could deteriorate the health and longevity of life. Health checkups could identify heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and malignant conditions in their early stages.
Similarly a regular spiritual health checkup is inevitable as we grow and mature in our walk with the Lord. The older we grow spiritually the more frequently we must search our heart for traces of spiritual conditions. The spiritual health-check will discover spiritual heart disease such as pride, spiritual diabetes such a judgemental spirit, high blood pressure such as anger and animosity and malignant conditions such as unforgiveness and bitterness. A regular health check is a posture of surrender in our prayer closet. It is in the stillness in God’s presence that He will reveal the spiritual health condition. Take an appointment with the Divine Physician.
Presenting our desires and wants at the altar will reveal the hidden secrets of the hearts. “I beseech you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1). Falling on our face before the throne of God everyday allows the divine scanning machine to detect any irregularities in our thinking, talking or testimony.
The treatment for any spiritual condition is “confession” of our sins and “acceptance” of His forgiveness through the blood. In the divine hospital healing is instantaneous. His blood is the divine antiseptic, His presence is therapeutic and His Word is ecstatic.
Spiritual Health-Checks:
1. Search: We must be vulnerable and transparent before the Lord to search our heart.
2. Scan The divine scanner will detect the trace of arrogance in our conversation, or the stench of jealousy on a colleague who got promoted or a white lie that slipped out during a conversation and will give us a report with warnings.
3. Sanctify: The blood of Jesus and His Word heals all spiritual disease and sanctifies us.
Do daily health-checks to detect any spiritual irregularities to grow and thrive spiritually.
Prayer: Lord My God, search me, scan, and sanctify me of any spiritual conditions that would debilitate my soul. Amen.
