Daniel 6:3 Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.
“Sore Thumb sticks out.”
The old proverb goes, “The tree with the sweetest fruit attracts the most stones”. Lush and fruitfulness attracts the eyes of evil men and hellish offenders. Excellence, brilliance and productivity attracts uncalled for enemies, criticism and opposition.
Daniel was exceptionally good at his work. The spirit of excellence attracted the attention of the king and he was promoted as the chief administrator of the whole kingdom. However, excellence attracts evil men and envious demonic eyes that tried to attack and destroy Daniel. Those who are innovative and productive attract success and significance but they also stand out as a sore thumb to the envious, divisive and deceptive men. Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank (Proverbs 22:29).
Do not be surprised if people hate you for no reason when you are fruitful and industrious. Do not try to win their favour. There will be some who will dislike us for no reason. They will struggle with the anointing that we carry. Just love them and ignore their sarcasm. No one could stop Daniel; neither man nor medium. The evil men who plotted against Daniel fell into the trap they set for him. Fruitfulness and excellence will attract the stone of animosity, criticism and envy but it also captures the attention of heaven. The spirit of brilliance and excellent work ethics stands out.
Stand Out:
1. Man: Fruitfulness will attract the eyes of men. A tree full of fruits will attract people who are hungry, angry and cranky. Feed the ‘hungry’ and ignore the ‘cranky’. Allow God to deal with the ‘angry’.
2. Media: Excellence will attract the attention of the media and the mediums. Measure your words to those who praise you. Don’t be carried away by the praises of people and do not be anxious about the mediums and maniacs who plot against you. No weapon that forms against you shall prosper.
3. Master: The Master, the King of kings is attracted to excellence.
The fruitful, excellent and hardworking – stand out.
Prayer: Dearest Jesus, give me a spirit of excellence in everything I do to glorify you. Amen.
