Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
“Le Rêve” means ‘The Dream’ in French. Le Rêve was an expensive oil painting on canvas by Pablo Picasso in 1932.
Watching a painter sketch and paint the canvas can be a very intriguing experience. They will start with base colours that might look dull and boring. As the work of art progresses, there will be bold splashes here and there that could perplex the viewer but the painter has a plan. The image is already completed in his heart. Similarly, God has the Le Rêve, the Dream, the painting of our life completed in His heart (Isaiah 49:16). We might not understand the colour combinations that are sketched on the canvas of our life, but the Master Art Scientist, our loving Saviour does.
The glowing canvas of Moses turned into grey by his irrational action. His intentions were good but his actions were impetuous. The bright green background soon turned into grey and gloom when he fled from the Pharaoh. The education, wisdom and skills that he acquired in Egypt appeared to be futile when he found himself derailed in the wilderness but the deliverer of the Hebrew was trained in the dialect to dialogue with the Pharaoh. He must have regretted his impulsive reaction but he was not out of God’s plan. The Master Painter was painting another dimension of His plan.
Le Rêve:
1. Green: The green background on the canvas of Moses soon turned dark but the Master Art Scientist was reforming him into a compassionate pastor. God will allow the tapestry of our life to be tampered only to prepare us for a greater blessing.
2. Grey: On grey days, when the sky is dark, be rest assured the bright sun is just behind the clouds. The darkness does not mean the sun has disappeared. He is a sun and a shield to the blameless (Psalm 84:11).
3. Gold: The green had to be painted over for the gold to be accentuated. The heart of Moses became a heart of gold in the wilderness.
God’s got the paint brush of your Le Rêve.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, when I cannot understand the colours on my canvas, help me to trust your heart. Amen.
