Isaiah 61:3 To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
“Le Rêve” means ‘The Dream’ in French. In the year 2006, Steve Wynn, the owner of the painting, due to his poor eyesight, accidentally punctured the painting with his elbow and caused a visible tear. However, it was restored by an unnamed “art surgeon” for $90,000. After the costly restoration, it was sold to Steven Cohen for $155 million.
The original sale deed for Le Rêve before it was damaged was $139 million but after restoration by the “art surgeon” its value increased to $155 million. 16 million more than the original price! However there was a price of $90,000 that Wynn had to pay for the restoration. This is such a perfect epitome of the redemption price that Jesus paid for you and me. We belong to Him. Unlike the story of Le Rêve the owner did not damage ‘us’. We spoiled and soiled our inner man with our own incorrect choices, decisions and actions. We harmed our soul and tarnished our image. However, Jesus paid the redemption price for our restoration on the cross with His blood and body.
Jesus takes the ashes of the dreams that were burnt down by our own carelessness and gives us a “crown of beauty”. He repaints the dull ash into bright red and gold and removes the grey without a trace. He takes away our sorrowful mourning clothes of black and anoints us with the oil of joy. The droopy teary eyes and mouth curved down is redone with bright blue beautiful eyes and a big smile. He clothes us with royal garments instead of rags of shame and distress.

1. Gold: The Master surgeon paints the grey with gold. He turns the mistakes into miracles.
2. Gladness: The sorrowful blues are turned into bright yellow sunshine of gladness.
3. Garment: The shadow of pain and distress will be painted over with the glorious garment of praise.
The Divine Art Surgeon is restoring our Le Rêve into a precious priceless Masterpiece.
