05 November 2025 – Divine Power – Part 1

1 Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.

“Divine power is authority over mind, man and mammon”.

Kingdom of God is the lifestyle of a child of God. The kingdom lifestyle is described as righteousness, peace and joy that cultivates and inculcates divine power and audacious authority in us. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). Without divine power we will be like an engine without fuel and like a horse whose hamstrings are severed. Without divine power we will be blinded, bound and broken. We will have no authority over the battlefield of the mind, the influences of the man, materialism or the demonic attacks.

After resurrection, Jesus breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit’ (John 20:22), but then He commanded them to wait in Jerusalem to be clothed with power. “Clothe yourselves with power” (Luke 24:49b). So, ‘receiving’ the Holy Spirit and being ‘anointed’ or ‘clothed and covered with the Holy Spirit’ are two different and distinct experiences. A good analogy would be a person of royal birth. A child born in a royal family already has the royal blood but until they are crowned as the king they do not have authority. Anointing is being clothed with divine power to defeat the harassment of the mind, man and mammon.

It was the divine clothing of power that made Elijah a fire breathing bold prophet who could stand against witchcraft and the wickedness of Ahab and the Jezebel. He was able to challenge 850 magicians, chanters and sorcerers alone as he was clothed with supernatural divine power.

We must be clothed with divine power to be effective and efficient. A powerless Christian is like a dead lion.

Clothe with Divine Power:

  1. Renew: Renewing our mind everyday refreshes and rejuvenates divine power.
  2. Recognize: Recognizing the power of God over rulers, authorities and the power of this world increases the viscosity of the power of God on us.
  3. Resist: Resisting demonic temptations, attacks and threats activates divine power and authority.

Activate and cultivate divine power by renewing and recognizing the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, clothe me with divine power to resist and overthrow the diabolical forces. Amen.
