Jude 20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit.
Life is a cycle of construction, deconstruction and reconstruction. Spiritually and emotionally, all three activities should be happening parallel to each other. Learning, unlearning and relearning happens throughout the journey of life. Anyone who is not open to learning will be stuck in their old ways and will become stagnant and stunted. Construction is the process of gaining knowledge that accelerates growth. Deconstruction is the process of unlearning, changing and transforming wrong ideologies, theologies and philosophies. Reconstruction is building on the noble principles, precepts and practices that enhance growth.
Growth is intentional; it is not automatic. There are “building materials” that develop our faith, fortify our trust and reinforce our vision – put them to use.
Spirit filled prayers are the divine building materials that construct faith.
The construction project of “faith” starts when we give our life to Christ on earth and completes only in eternity. Our faith is built when we learn the skill of praying in the Holy Spirit. Praying in the Holy Spirit does not stop with speaking in tongues. It is a constant and continuous communication with the Holy Spirit, at all times and about all things. Praying in the Spirit is the process of downloading God’s view, God’s thoughts and God’s Word. It is understanding the mind of God and praying according to His will. “This is what we speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words” (1 Corinthians 2:13).“Spirit-taught words are the building material that not only strengthen our faith but also fortify our future.”
Praying in the Holy Spirit:
- Listen: Developing the habit of surrendering our thoughts and listening to the Holy Spirit tunes our heart to receive revelations from Him. Go to Him with your thoughts, tasks and troubles and receive a fresh download of God’s Wisdom and God’s perspectives.
- Learn: Growth is not automatic. Be intentional about learning and be pliable to learn, change and absorb God’s Ways.
- Leverage: Praying in the Holy Spirit imparts Spirit-taught words and divine wisdom—leverage on it.
“Build your faith by praying in the Holy Spirit”.
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, teach me to pray in the Spirit and buildup my most Holy Faith. Amen.
