28 November 2025 – Building Project – Part 3

Proverbs 25:28 Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.

In ancient times walls set the boundaries of a kingdom. Cities without walls lacked protection from the attack of the enemies. The strength and security of an empire was determined by secured fortified walls around it. ‘Fortified ramparts’ and ‘secured barricades’ are perfect metaphors to the walls that we must build to live righteous, holy and purposeful lives.

We need walls and boundaries in our thinking, if not the mind will meander into unguarded and indiscreet thought life. There should be a firm boundary line on the tongue; a loose mouth will engage in uncontrolled cynical and contentious discourse. Most importantly, the walls of morality determine spiritual, emotional and relational well-being. Sound Biblical principles build our family, finances and friendships. Biblical precepts and ethics must drive our decision-making and dependability. Success and significance are by-products of the boundaries that we set for our lives.

Joseph’s spiritual boundaries attributed to his success. His high moral and ethical standards gave him the courage to flee from temptation and face persecution and its consequences with joyful steadfastness. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9b).  We don’t see or hear him lamenting when he was unlawfully punished as he waited patiently for honesty to be honoured. His mouth confessed and meditated on what his heart believed which set the momentum of his choices, decisions and actions.

Building high standards of integrity will be reflected in our lifestyle –in the way we treat people, in the work of our hands, in our judgments and comments, in the way we handle money and crisis. Righteousness brings lasting rewards.

Build Your Walls and Boundaries:

  1. Mind: Have safe walls around your mind. Refuse to breach the standards in the Word of God. Thoughts that are not true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and praiseworthy must be captured and nailed to the cross.
  2. Mouth: Bridle your mouth. Don’t be quick to judge, comment or condemn. From the mouth of the righteous comes the fruit of wisdom (Proverbs 10:31a).
  3. Morality: The greatest victory a man can have is over carnality and his ungodly cravings.

“Build walls of strong spiritual, moral, and ethical values”.

Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, I need your anointing to build and secure boundaries for my life. Amen.
