Proverbs 24:3-4 By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.
Wisdom, understanding and knowledge are three important building materials to build our home and our heart. Wisdom is God’s thoughts and perspective on any matter. The Bible is the written version of God’s Wisdom in ink and paper. Understanding on the other hand is the divine revelation of the truth. It is the enlightenment of the heart to the ways and the will of God. Knowledge is the “knowhow” to execute the wisdom that burns in our heart as understanding and revelation. Knowledge includes facts and figures that unfurl wisdom and understanding.
Knowledge teaches us to pursue righteousness and integrity. “Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity, and honor” (Proverb 21:21). Understanding enlightens our heart with passion and revelation to choose right from wrong and to love ‘good’ and ‘hate’ evil. Wisdom makes the right choice of saying no to ‘vice’ and yes to ‘virtue’. “Application of knowledge and understanding is wisdom”.
We read about an unnamed wise woman who saved her city with her wise choices (2 Samuel 20:16-22). She counseled the rulers to throw the wicked and vicious man over the city wall and protected her people. There was another wise woman, Jael, who drove a tent peg into the head of the enemy to end the battle (Judges 4:18-21). The business magnet, a dealer in purple cloth named Lydia, opened her heart and her home to the gospel and brought about a great revival in her city (Acts 16:14-15).
Fools despise wisdom and demolish their homes (Proverbs 7:1).

- Saves: Wisdom will save your children, community and city. Wisdom will choose to love instead of hate, to serve rather than receive and invest, not spend.
- Slay: Understanding is the passion to hate wrongness and wickedness. The fervor to follow the Lord wholeheartedly will lead to abundant life, prosperity of the soul and transferable honour that will add precious stones to our crown in heaven.
- Secure: Acquiring knowledge is like gathering beautiful and rare treasures. The Bible is packed with knowledge and understanding of success, security and significance.
“Wisdom is application of knowledge and understanding”.
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, help me to choose righteousness and hate wrongness. Amen.
