Exodus 10:21 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness spreads over Egypt—darkness that can be felt.”
The Egyptians experienced a prolonged night and darkness for 72 hours when Moses stretched his hands towards the sky. Darkness came upon them like a plague. The darkness would have depressed them and engulfed the Egyptians with fear. They would have been drooping in the dark not knowing where they were going. Some might have landed in the neighbour’s house or fallen into a pit not knowing their way out. There might have been cries of lost kids and lost cattle. It was a darkness that could be felt. “Darkness” is a commodity in the demonic realm. Darkness manifests as bondages, slavery and oppression.
While Egypt was covered in darkness, there was perfect day and night in the land of Goshen where the Israelites lived. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived (vs 23). While the Hebrews were enjoying sound sleep at night, the Egyptians did not even know the difference between night and day for 3 days. The darkness bit them like a snake.
This is a typology of those who engage in the deeds of darkness. Darkness permeates and grips their heart and mind. Those who are under bondage or curse are drooping in utter darkness that would bite into their flesh and soul. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. (Ephesians 5:11-12). The demonic realm does not sleep at night. So, our spirit-man must be alert, awake and agile even when our body rests. If not, we will be attacked by pessimism, perversion or panic.
So, as we go to bed, we must meditate on a verse or a song of praise or speak in tongues. Then when the body is at rest, our spirit will be awake and protected, worshiping the Lord.
The dark demonic realm never sleeps:
- Dark: Darkness is a commodity in the demonic realm that manifests as depression, distress or disease.
- Dead: Our soul must be guarded from fruitless deeds at night.
- Dable: Dabbling in occultic practices is dangerous.
The demonic realm does not sleep, so guard your mind and heart.
Prayer: Father of Light, I will walk in the light and destroy the works of darkness. Amen.
