Daniel 2:19 During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven.
A good night’s sleep boosts brainpower, enhances concentration, learning, memory consolidation, and problem-solving. It builds resilience to handle stress and social interactions. It is also true that the Lord God speaks secrets to us at night during our sleep. For God does speak—now one way, now another— though no one perceives it, In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their beds (Job 33:14-15). When we go to sleep our body goes to rest but our spirit is still awake. The spirit man should be trained to continue to worship and interact with the Lord as our body goes into slumber. Secrets are revealed and divine transactions happen while we are asleep.
Daniel and his friends were dragged into the death sentence that was pronounced by the enraged king Nebuchadnezzar. The king was troubled by a dream. He called for his sorcerers and astrologers and demanded them to tell him the dream and its interpretation. They were ready to interpret the dream but no one could reveal the dream. The furious king declared a decree that all the wise men were to be put to death – this included Daniel and his friends. But Daniel sought the Lord at night and the Lord revealed the mystery to Daniel in a vision.
If we are bewildered about a circumstance, just seek the Lord. He will reveal the secret things while you go to sleep in a dream or a vision. “He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him” (Daniel 2:20-22).
While we sleep, God will reveal secrets:
- Praise: Go to bed praising. Do not ruminate on the disappointments, fears or problems but worship. Then, when we sleep our body is at rest but the spirit continues to commune with the Lord and the Lord will reveal deep and secret things.
- Prayer: Prayer must become like breathing. Talk more to God than you do to people.
- Purity: Purity and piety reveal the heart of God to us.
Go to bed expecting God to reveal deep and secret things.
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, train my spirit to continuously commune with you even when I sleep. Amen.
