2 Samuel 5:20 So David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, “As waters break out, the Lord has broken out against my enemies before me.” So that place was called Baal Perazim.
Breakthrough is not an ordinary advancement or a step forward. It is a dramatic advancement and a dynamic progression breaking barriers and demolishing strongholds. The blockade was probably like a fortified wall and a closed door that had to be broken open. We pray for breakthroughs, we desire breakthroughs and endeavour breakthroughs but breakthroughs are pitched on spiritual formulae. Spiritual strongholds must be broken open with spiritual weapons.
As soon as David was anointed king the enemy attacked him viciously. However, the Lord gave David a breakthrough victory. It was not an ordinary victory but a complete annihilation of the enemy and their gods. The Lord Almighty fought against the Philistines that they fled for their lives leaving behind their gods. The Philistines abandoned their idols there, and David and his men carried them off (vs 21). The pagan nations carried their gods to aid them in the battle. The enemy abandoning the very object of protection and security marks a breakthrough victory! The fleeing Philistines went back to their empty temples that had no gods. David and his men carried them off and burnt the idols down to dust! Demolishing demonic strongholds is the breakthrough victory.
David’s obedience brought forth the breakthrough victory. So David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?” The Lord answered him, “Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands.” (vs 19). David did not move an inch without inquiring with the Lord.
Breakthrough Victory:
- Break: Bulldoze the barrier and break down the walls that the enemy builds against your progress with spiritual weapons of prayer, fasting and God’s Word.
- Battle: Lean on and listen to the Holy Spirit for battle strategies before you plunge into battle.
- Breakthrough: Listen, obey and enjoy Baal Perazim – breakthrough victory. No stronghold is too strong, no wall is too high and no challenge is too difficult when the Almighty God fights your battle.
Break the demonic barriers and breakthrough the enemy’s camp with spiritual weapons.
Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, teach me the battle strategies to break down the barriers and enjoy dynamic breakthroughs. Amen.
